Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both views and provides a personal opinion, though the development is somewhat superficial. The arguments regarding the convenience of online viewing and the immersive experience of cinemas are relevant but lack depth and specific examples. The position is clear, but the essay would benefit from more detailed explanations to fully support the claims made. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure each point is supported by a clear explanation or a concrete example to demonstrate a more thorough engagement with the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is often hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. While cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In addition' are used, they are sometimes applied incorrectly or in a way that feels forced. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'they' without a clear antecedent in the second body paragraph. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary flow to guide the reader smoothly through the argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear topic sentences would significantly enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'good', 'enjoyed', and 'things'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'ancient videos' (likely meaning 'older films') and 'environmental' used instead of 'environment' or 'atmosphere'. The range is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but there is a lack of precision and variety. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'cinematic experience', 'digital accessibility', or 'cultural preservation'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('they does not have', 'mostly peoples enjoyed'), incorrect article usage, and fragmented or run-on sentences. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas and capitalization errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect verb tenses. A more varied use of complex sentence structures is needed for a higher score.
