Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this contemporary era, many individuals believed that the importance of theatres and cinemas is decreasing day by day as so many people prefer to use online platforms as means of their entrainment whereas there are some people who still think that theatres and cinemas are advantageous for us in terms of cultural and economic value. In my opinion theatres and cinemas are essential for us as it offers cultural preservation and they are also the economic drivers. On the other hand, theatres and cinemas are cost-effectiveness and it controlled personalized viewing of audience.
Firstly, theatres and cinemas are really essential for us as they are the economic drivers because the films and live theatres industries box office revenues support thousands of jobs. It includes staff, technicians, production crews and local hospitality business through which it can support us economically. Additionally, it can help in the cultural preservation with immersion. Live theatre and cinema offer shared social and emotional experience that build community bonds. There are so many movies in the cinema halls which are related to our cultural in our society to teach new generation about the history and culture of our country. For instance, last year movie named sati paratha was released in Nepal which reflect the unethical practice that happened in Nepal about 100 years ago.
Conversely, theatres and cinemas are quite cost effectiveness because they have high ticket prices, parking fees and concessions which make visiting a cinema or theatre expensive. Similarly, they controlled personalized view of audience as at how, viewers can pause, rewind, turn on subtitles or changes titles instantly according to their preferences. For example, my brother was upset by visiting cinema hall as in the hall there was no rewind service for him while watching movie.
In conclusion, I firmly think that theatres and cinemas are really essential for us as it help us to protect our culture and it can also help in terms of economically by providing employment opportunities. There are also some disadvantages of cinema and theatres since they are very expensive, and it controlled personal view of audience.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as economic contributions and cultural preservation. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the disadvantages of cinemas is slightly contradictory, as the student labels them 'cost-effective' while describing them as expensive. The conclusion restates the position well, but the supporting arguments could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is well-structured and fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', 'Conversely', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the use of 'it' to refer to plural nouns like 'theatres and cinemas'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, contributing to a coherent overall flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at topic-specific language like 'cultural preservation', 'economic drivers', and 'box office revenues'. However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'cost-effectiveness' used as an adjective and 'controlled personalized viewing' which does not accurately convey the intended meaning. While the range is sufficient to communicate the main points, the lack of precision in word choice prevents a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('many individuals believed', 'it controlled personalized viewing') and incorrect verb forms ('as at how'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from reaching the 7.0 band. More attention to tense consistency and singular/plural agreement is needed.
