Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the economic argument is mentioned, it is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. The explanation of cultural benefits is also quite general. The essay covers all parts of the prompt, but the arguments are not fully extended or supported with specific, convincing examples. The reasoning often relies on generalizations, such as the claim that all rural areas have closed their cinemas. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed, logical explanations for your points rather than listing them briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the use of 'As a result' is repetitive and sometimes logically disconnected from the preceding sentence. There are also issues with referencing; the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, making the progression of the argument feel disjointed. While there is a basic logical flow, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional misuse of cohesive devices prevent the essay from achieving a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'enjoyment', 'things', and 'money'. There are also several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'purse study', 'rular areas', and 'divers a religion individuals'. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'arror' (likely meant 'are') and 'plethora' used in a slightly unnatural context. To improve, you should focus on learning more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to the topic of media and economics, and ensure that you use words in their correct grammatical form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'theatres and cinemas helps'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'Because its be facilitates to collect money for nation development.' The range of structures is limited, and attempts at complex sentences often result in errors. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical mistakes significantly impacts the overall quality of the writing.
