Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern era, technology have advance and many useful feature available online on smart phone. Sections of society argues that theatres and cinemas are no longer important because individuals can watch all the entertainment online. However, others think that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. This essay intends to hash out both the conflicting views before embarking my viewpoint.
On the one hand side, some people say that nowadays it's easy to people stream watch entertainment movies and videos on online instead of theatres and cinemas. First and perhaps most notable one is that many apps available on mobile phone and computers provide all type of movies, videos and programme people like to watch without going outside. Apart from that some individuals like to watch funny and entertainment videos at home because they do not want to waste money. Moreover, some people like to watch smart TV at home without being part of crowd and can watch anytime on youtube and netflix.
On the other hand side, others argue that theatres and cinemas are still significant because they have more benefits to other people and the foremost, theatres and cinemas give a chance to meet different people. To be more clear, if someone go to theatres for watching movies they get a chance to meet different culture and traditions. Apart from that watching an entertainment content in theatres and cinemas help to improve the economy and also improve employment. For example, a group of people going to cinema they use transport, buy ticket and also buy some snacks too it increases the income of workers who work in cinema. As a result it improves group bonding with others and also improves employment.
To conclude in the view of above mentioned pointers, it is quite evident that online platforms are convenient and provide relaxing environment. However, theatres and cinemas give a chance to meet other individuals and also improve employment and increase the income of shopkeepers. From my perspective, watching an entertainment on online is better.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding the economic impact of cinemas is a bit repetitive, focusing heavily on snacks and transport rather than broader cultural or economic implications. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and sophistication. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced examples and expand on the 'why' behind your points rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand side', 'Apart from that', and 'To conclude', though some of these are used in a slightly mechanical or repetitive way. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the two main body paragraphs could be smoother. The use of referencing is occasionally imprecise, which slightly affects the flow of the argument. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'funny', 'good', and 'important' repeatedly. There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'hash out' (which is too informal for an academic essay) and 'stream watch'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or precise vocabulary limits the score. Incorporating more topic-specific collocations related to media, economics, and social interaction would improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'technology have advance', 'Sections of society argues') and article usage (e.g., 'on online', 'theatres and cinemas are...'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'if someone go to theatres'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical agreement and ensuring consistent verb tense usage.
