Student answer (Band 5.5)

The significance of theatres and cinemas cannot be refuted as it plays an crucial role in the entertainment industry. Some people think, in digital era these are no longer important. However, Others assert that they are still vital for the economy and culture. This essay will discuss both points along with my personal opinion.

On the one hand, Supporters of cinemas maintain the assertion that; they still plays a pivotal role in daily lives because it offers an immense range of entertainment and refreshment. Families and friends still get ammused by the experience. People get engrossed in this experience and it joines a lot of families as well. As a result of this, bond between families and friends get stronger and more reliable. Furthermore, It benefits the economy as well by contributing a large amount of income which they earn from these activities.

On the other hand, A group of people are more inclined towards watching diversion contents on their digital tools, such as: tablets, mobile phones and laptops because it save time and expenses. Moreover, some people are more comfortable in their own space rather than going out in public. Along with it, abundance of minors also prefer being at home because most of the parents do not allow them to leave the house; it provides them a sense of security and relaxtion at the same time.

According to my vantage point, digital tools are contributing substantially. However, I personally opine that, cinemas and theatres are still equally esstential for cultural and economical growth.

In conclusion, enhancing the performance of cinemas will be constructive for the nations's progress and will engage cultures as well. a smart approach for this will be more worthwhile.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the economic and cultural importance of cinemas, the arguments remain quite general and lack specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the point about 'contributing a large amount of income' is vague. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete illustrations, such as the role of local cinemas in supporting small businesses or the unique social experience of a film festival. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments need more depth to be fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Along with it, abundance of minors'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear; for example, in the second paragraph, the pronoun 'it' is used to refer to 'cinemas' (plural), which creates a minor grammatical inconsistency. Improving the variety and natural flow of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pivotal', 'engrossed', and 'substantially'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and spelling errors, such as 'ammused' (amused), 'relaxtion' (relaxation), 'esstential' (essential), and 'diversion contents' (diverse content). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and proofreading for common spelling mistakes. Expanding your vocabulary to include more topic-specific terminology related to the film industry would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it plays an crucial role', 'they still plays a pivotal role', 'bond... get stronger'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary semicolons and commas used incorrectly, such as in the phrase 'the assertion that; they still plays'. While these errors rarely impede the overall meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on basic agreement rules and punctuation conventions will significantly improve your accuracy.
