Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the task. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the suggestion that governments should make cinema tickets 'free of cost' is an underdeveloped and unrealistic economic argument. Furthermore, the essay lacks a clear, consistent position throughout; while it mentions both views, the personal opinion is not strongly integrated or supported with convincing evidence. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To improve, you should provide more logical, real-world examples to support your claims and ensure your personal stance is clearly articulated and maintained from the introduction through to the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often interrupted by awkward phrasing and abrupt transitions. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'On the other hand', 'Taking everything into account'), they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is disjointed; for example, the transition from discussing digital trends to the economic benefits of cinema is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack clear links to the previous point, which makes the overall argument feel disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'watch the diversion', 'technical advancement is progressed', and 'verbal and social interaction'. The phrase 'gossip' is also inappropriate in this formal context. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'economic expansion' and 'cultural heritage', the overall range is limited. To achieve a higher score, focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and using more precise academic vocabulary rather than relying on general or slightly misused terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'technology and technical advancement is progressed'), article usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'relationship will finds way to communicate'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and pluralization to improve your accuracy.
