Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the arguments regarding the social and economic benefits of physical venues. However, some points are slightly under-developed or rely on generalizations, such as the claim that streaming is 'very affordable' for everyone. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, ensure that all arguments are supported with more specific examples or deeper analysis rather than just listing benefits.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical or awkward, such as the transition in the final paragraph: 'although... however,' which is grammatically redundant. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to minor errors in sentence structure. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use topic-specific language like 'digital streaming platform,' 'artistic heritage,' and 'immersive communal experience.' However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'people are now seeking new trend and extraordinary with emphasise technology' and 'key preserves.' These errors occasionally hinder the precision of the argument. To improve, focus on using collocations correctly and ensuring that word forms (e.g., 'emphasise' vs 'emphasis') are used accurately in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('traditional venues provides,' 'people are financially rely on this') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are clunky, such as 'Leading some argues that...' and '...is share the social and ritual.' These errors are noticeable and occasionally impact the fluency of the writing, though they do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning.
