Student answer (Band 6.0)
Most people believe that cinemas and movie theatres are not as essential because individuals can watch entertainment on the internet in this modern age, while others believe that movie theatres and cinemas are vital for both culture and finances. Having these entertainment places can make the country more economically stable. On the contrary, individuals can view movies and films in the comfort of their home. . I agree with this view as I believe it will be easy for people to watch anything without having to go out.
Individuals can watch films at home without any hassle to go out specifically to watch movies. I agree because it helps them save money from the fuel and other expenses related to transportation. Apart from being cost-efficient, it can also help them save energy which they can utilize in some other important things. For instance, preparing to go out is exhausting sometimes when you are tired or having lack of motivation.
On the other hand, the country benefits from these entertainment centers as it supports their economy. I disagree, because in this modern age, people have less time for themselves so instead of going out, they prefer to stay at home whenever they are free. Additionally, there are a significant number of places which can replace them while helping the economy to grow efficiently as compared to the movie theatres. For example, museums can be a good replacement in terms of cultural and financial basis as individuals nowadays have more interest in ancient history.
In conclusion, although movie theatres and cinemas can have a larger impact on economy, but for individuals, in recent times, it is no longer as vital because of the technological advancements and busy schedules.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding museums as a replacement for cinemas is not fully explored or logically connected to the economic impact of the film industry. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments lack depth and specific examples. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, and the essay would benefit from more nuanced analysis of the cultural importance of cinemas beyond just 'economic stability'. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with clear reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Apart from', 'On the other hand', and 'Additionally', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly confusing, such as the abrupt shift in the third paragraph where you state 'I disagree' without clearly linking it back to the prompt's specific economic argument. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'cost-efficient', 'technological advancements', and 'economically stable'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler phrasing. There are also minor issues with word choice, such as 'having lack of motivation' (should be 'lacking motivation') and 'in terms of cultural and financial basis' (which is slightly awkward). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and less common vocabulary to demonstrate a wider range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that persist, such as 'without any hassle to go out' (should be 'without the hassle of going out') and 'although... but' (a redundant structure; use one or the other). There are also minor punctuation errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'utilize in some other important things'. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these small errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on refining sentence construction and avoiding redundant conjunctions.
