Student answer (Band 6.0)
There are some people who believe that cinemas and theatres have lost their importance in this modern era where people can watch anything online, whereas others think that both are essential in economic and cultural aspects. I highly agree with the later statement.
In the age of science and technology, people do not need to depend upon cinemas and theatres for their entertainment. Nowadays, all types of films and movies can be found from the online streaming sites with minimal to zero cost. For instances, netflix, amazone prime, hulu, hotstar, disney and many more platforms are available where people can watch whatever they want and whenever they want. These platforms provide thousand options for cinemas and theatres right into our palm.
On the other hand, such ease in lives has created several problems for those people who are directly and indirectly involved in showcasing cinemas and theatres in halls. There are a certain group of people who earn their livelihood by working on movie theaters and cinema halls, such as, selling tickets, taking care of reels and many more. As people are not anymore interested to watch movies physically, economic impact can be noticed over the people involved there. Additionally, it was a part of the culture to wait for a cinema with high anticipation and watch together with families and friends. That tradition has been lost over the time. At present, we have seen that people are more prone to watch pirated version rather than wait for the premier which has demolished the cultural aspects.
Even though the introduction of online platforms and sites has driven away the necessities of cinemas and theatres, cinemas and theatres are far more important economically and culturally as they are someone's only means of living and at the same time, carry cultural values.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both views and provides a clear personal position. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the economic argument regarding cinema staff is relevant, the cultural argument is slightly underdeveloped and relies on generalisations about 'pirated versions' and 'tradition'. The essay would benefit from more specific examples of how cinemas provide unique cultural experiences beyond just 'watching together'. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better synthesised the main points to reinforce the position. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis is limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two perspectives. Cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'Additionally', and 'Even though' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as the use of 'there' in 'economic impact can be noticed over the people involved there'. The flow is generally smooth, but more sophisticated linking words would improve the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'demolished' and 'anticipation'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'showcasing cinemas' (instead of 'screening films'), 'into our palm' (should be 'at our fingertips'), and 'driven away the necessities' (should be 'diminished the necessity'). Spelling errors like 'amazone' and 'thousand options' (should be 'thousands of options') also detract from the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is consistently clear, there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'I highly agree with the later statement' (should be 'latter'), 'For instances' (should be 'For instance'), 'people are not anymore interested' (should be 'no longer interested'), and 'over the time' (should be 'over time'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the frequency of these minor grammatical slips prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the control over complex structures is inconsistent.
