Student answer (Band 6.0)
In my opinion, i go with 1st statement i.e cinemas and theatres are not as important now, because everything related to entertainment is available online.
In this digital age, cinemas and theatres do not get that much attention as they did earlier. One of the reasons is that, people are so much busy in their daily life so they do not get as much time to go outside and buy such expensive tickets for a show. Now they have some online apps and platforms from where they can watch their favorite movies, seasons, dramas and shows etc for free. Also some apps require a fee for there subscription and give their apps premium features. So that peoples can watch everything online in better quality as well. For example in my case, i have been working in an office so i do not have much time to go outside even on weekends, so i usually plan to watch my favorite shows in break time with my fellow colleges.
On the other hand, cinemas and theatres are still useful in some cases such as when a new moviei is released and people liked that so much that they cannot even wait for it to release online. In this case people can go outside and watch it. Likewise on some occasions such as public holiday or any ritual event etc, people can make plan and take their families, friends or relatives outside in order to spend some quality time with them, so cinemas and theatres are good option.
From these point of views, i concluded that yes in this modern and digital age, the importance of cinemas and theatres is getting lesser with the passage of time, because of smart phones, laptops and LCDs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic and cultural importance of cinemas is touched upon only briefly in the third paragraph. The points made are relevant, but they lack depth and specific examples beyond personal anecdotes. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the broader societal or economic implications of theatres, such as their role in local community building or the film industry's revenue models, rather than focusing primarily on personal convenience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central focus. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'In this case', 'Likewise', 'Also'). Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that ideas flow more smoothly between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good option' or 'not as important'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'ritual event' (likely meaning 'cultural event') and 'there subscription' (a spelling error for 'their'). To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to the entertainment industry and avoid informal phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('peoples can watch'), incorrect pronoun usage ('there subscription'), and punctuation errors (e.g., missing commas, lowercase 'i'). Additionally, the sentence structure is sometimes overly simplistic. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over complex sentence forms and ensure that basic grammatical rules, such as capitalization and pluralization, are applied consistently.
