Student answer (Band 6.0)
In my opinion, i go with the statement i.e. cinemas and theatres are not as important now, because everything related to entertainment is available online.
In this digital age, cinemas and theatres do not get that much attention as they did earlier. One of the reasons is that, people are very busy in their daily life so they do not get as much time to go outside and buy such expensive tickets for a show. Now they have various online apps and platforms from where they can watch their favorite movies, seasons, dramas and shows etc. for free. Also some apps require a fee for their subscription and give their apps premium features. So that people can watch everything online in better quality as well. For example in my case, i have been working in an office so i do not have much time to go outside even on weekends, so i usually plan to watch my favorite shows in break time with my fellow colleagues.
On the other hand, cinemas and theatres are still useful in some cases such as when a new movie is released and people liked that so much that they cannot even wait for it to release online. In this case people can go outside and watch it. Likewise on some occasions such as public holidays or any ritual event etc. people can make plan and take their families, friends or relatives outside in order to spend some quality time with them, so cinemas and theatres are good option.
From these point of views, i concluded that yes in this modern and digital age, the importance of cinemas and theatres is getting lesser with the passage of time, because of smart phones, laptops and LCDs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that people are busy and prefer online platforms, the economic and cultural arguments mentioned in the prompt are only touched upon superficially. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'economic' aspect (e.g., job creation, local business revenue) and the 'cultural' aspect (e.g., the unique social experience of a shared audience). The conclusion is clear, but the overall depth of analysis remains at a basic level, preventing a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'In this digital age,' 'On the other hand,' and 'For example' to link ideas. However, the transitions between sentences can feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more sophisticated. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'subscription,' 'premium features,' and 'ritual event.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a reliance on simpler terms like 'good option' or 'not as important.' There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as using 'seasons' to refer to television series. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid informal phrasing. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as the misuse of the first-person pronoun 'i' (which should always be capitalized), missing articles, and some awkward phrasing like 'people are very busy in their daily life so they do not get as much time.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
