Student answer (Band 5.5)
Theatres and cinemas have the significant role and effect in the economy as well as the cultural values of a country. In the modern world, as the technology has prevailed to a certain height, advancements in the digital world has also made that provide online platforms in which all the sources of media including movies, series, dramas etc are there, these online platforms provide ease of access to its viewers to consume any source of media without going to a actual cinema or theatre. This saves them time as well as provide them free source of entertainment. In this essay i will discuss both views with relevant examples.
Commencing with the fact that , younger generation of this modern world prefer online platforms as a source of free entertainment rather then buying expensive tickets of cinemas. Online platforms such as Netflix, Amazon prime videos, YouTube etc are accessible to every person that have a smartphone and laptop, these platforms provide them free source of entertainment as well as full control over these apps like a viewer can pause, play , skip, increase or decrease volume and adjust brightness according to himself rather then the viewers of cinemas. Moreover, unlike cinemas or theatres where people have to buy tickets , spare 2 to 3 hours from their precious time , online platforms provide ease of access for its viewers , they could watch or have access to any source of media without paying expensive tickets as well as they have the liability of watching these shows whenever they want or whenever they have free time.
Contrary to it, theatres and cinemas are the backbone of a country economy. Moreover they are a source of our cultural display. People buy tickets from theatres and cinemas and eventually these cinemas and theatres provide a considerate amount of taxes to the government that helps in the economic growth of that particular country. Also theatres and cinemas outlays the cultural values of a particular nation, by displaying their art, their cultural values in a certain form of drama or serials.
In conclusion , both of the opinions have their own values and their own importance, but in my opinion, online platforms had overcome the hype of theatres and cinemas because they are a free source of entertainment and these platforms provide more control over advanced fea

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the economic argument regarding taxes is mentioned but not elaborated upon with specific examples or depth. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a full summary of your position. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by a well-developed explanation and a concrete example. Additionally, ensure your conclusion is fully articulated to provide a sense of closure to the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Contrary to it', and 'In conclusion'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Contrary to it' to introduce the second viewpoint. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The abrupt ending of the essay negatively impacts the overall coherence, as the final thought is left unfinished. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring a complete, structured conclusion will help raise your score in this area.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'advancements', 'prevailed', and 'backbone'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'technology has prevailed to a certain height' and 'theatres and cinemas outlays the cultural values'. Some phrasing is repetitive, particularly the use of 'source of entertainment'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary, and avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'advancements... has also made') and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'adjust brightness according to himself rather then the viewers of cinemas'). Punctuation is inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and some missing articles. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the clarity of your writing. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring correct article usage.
