Student answer (Band 6.0)
While some advocate as modern digital platforms offer a vast amount of entertainment content online, there is no longer need for theatres and cinemas, others argue these venues are still have significant benefit on the economy and culture. I completely agree with the second assertion, because visiting cinemas and theatres frequently can reduce the social isolation problem, creates a massive amount of job opportunities, prevent copyright, and many more.
On the one hand, individuals who believe theatres and cinemas are longer vital for the society because of the rapid development in this digital era have several reasons to hold this view. Firstly, the technological efficiency plays an important role for peoples' to believe this perspective. Access to vast amount of digital content online is significantly easy nowadays, and sometimes they are free of cost. Some people believe that purchasing a movie ticket is highly expensive comparing to have a digital subscription, where they have access to thousands of movies and series in a single platform. Furthermore, these days, individuals find difficult to manage free time for visiting cinemas and theatres because of their heavy workload. Consequently, enjoying a movie or others digital contents on their personal device is more convenient than going to the hall.
On the other hand, I personally believe that cinemas and theatres are still very important for the society, because they prevent the social isolation problem, and increase employment opportunities. When individuals have a very little time for their personal activities, or hangout with their friends and families, these venues are giving them a chance to have some quality time with their friends or families, which ultimately help people to unwind, and de-stress after a busy schedule. Furthermore, these venues plays a significant role for the local economy. While more cinemas and theatres is introduced, more people will get job in this kind of entertainment sectors. Moreover, they pay a massive amount of taxes to the government, which ultimately important for national resource allocation. In addition, they prevent copyright, and offer a better experience, which cannot be replaceable by a small smartphone display.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that while digital paltfroms offer a convenient way to watch all kind of entertainment online, cinemas and theatres are still important to reduce social isolation problem, and enhance employment opportunites.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact and the social benefits of cinemas. However, some points are under-developed; for instance, the claim that cinemas 'prevent copyright' is not clearly explained or logically linked to the importance of the venue. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments could benefit from more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances of mechanical or slightly awkward transitions, such as 'and many more' in the introduction, which is too informal. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between some sentences within paragraphs could be smoother to achieve a more sophisticated level of cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is sufficient for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'assertion', 'technological efficiency', and 'resource allocation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'prevent copyright' (which should be 'combat piracy') and 'more cinemas and theatres is introduced' (subject-verb agreement error). While the vocabulary is adequate to convey meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('these venues plays', 'cinemas and theatres is introduced') and article usage ('the society', 'a massive amount'). There are also minor errors in phrasing, such as 'comparing to have a digital subscription'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are persistent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band, which requires more frequent error-free sentences.
