Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The essay addresses both views and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments. The ideas are presented but remain underdeveloped; for example, the claim that online entertainment is 'money saving' is not fully explained, and the cultural/economic benefits of cinemas are mentioned but lack specific, concrete examples. The response is also written in all-caps, which is inappropriate for formal writing. To improve, you should expand your supporting points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the minimum word count requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Firstly', and 'Furthermore'. However, the flow is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions are awkward, such as 'In addition to, they are...'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the logical progression within paragraphs is limited by the brevity of the points. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each sentence links smoothly to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'INDIVIDULAS', 'VSIT', 'EXAMPLIFY', and 'MEMOREABLE'. The phrasing is often repetitive, and some word choices are unnatural, such as 'stolen of our things' or 'sweet flowers' to describe memories. To improve, focus on learning accurate collocations and proofreading for spelling. Using more academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'accessibility', 'cultural heritage', or 'economic viability', would significantly enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'some people has' (subject-verb agreement) and 'we have to bought' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is also problematic; there are missing spaces after commas and periods throughout the text. The use of all-caps makes the text difficult to read and is not standard for IELTS. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and consistent punctuation. Practice writing more complex sentences with accurate subordinate clauses.
