Student answer (Band 7.0)
In the digital era, when almost everything is available online, some people question the relevance of traditional venues such as theatres and cinemas. While others have a view that these venues are still significant as they contribute economically and culturally. In this regard, I believe that despite easy access to entertainment, theaters and cinemas are still essential due to their support to culture and economy.
On the other hand, digital media has changed the whole entertainment medium. People can now access entertainment anywhere, at any time according to their ease. Another advantage of online streaming is that it is budget friendly. People don't need to spend money in terms of buying tickets, parking, accommodation as just one subscription unlocks a wide range of entertainment at a fraction of money they spent on buying tickets for cinema. Similarly, this facility is especially favourable for those who live far away from cinema houses and are keen on cinema.
Nevertheless, despite all the advantages, the traditional venues are still irreplaceable. First of all, traditional media offers a strong communal interaction especially in case of theaters where artists perform live in front of the audience. Audience from different communities interact with each other that promotes cultural diversity. Similarly, cinemas provide the specific environment that a movie or show demands. Sound effects, and especially 3D theaters allow people to experience the exact crux of the entertainment being presented.
Moreover, these venues not only support cultural diversity but also contribute to the economy as these are a source of income for many artists.
To conclude, although online streaming is an accessible and convenient source of entertainment for many, I believe that traditional venues are still crucial as they serve as a cornerstone for the cultural and economic growth of a society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the arguments regarding communal interaction and economic benefits. However, some points could be extended further; for instance, the economic argument is mentioned briefly at the end but lacks specific examples or depth. The position is consistent throughout the essay. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point raised is fully supported with specific examples or logical explanations, rather than just stating them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'Nevertheless', and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are minor issues with flow; for example, the second sentence of the introduction is a fragment ('While others have a view...'). Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel slightly mechanical. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally appropriate for the task, with some good collocations like 'digital era', 'communal interaction', and 'cultural diversity'. There are some instances of slightly awkward phrasing, such as 'at their ease' or 'fraction of money they spent'. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning clearly, it lacks the more sophisticated or precise vocabulary that would characterize a higher band. The spelling is accurate throughout, and the word choice is generally precise enough to avoid ambiguity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over basic grammar, but there are some recurring errors. For example, the sentence 'While others have a view that these venues are still significant as they contribute economically and culturally' is a dependent clause and lacks a main verb. There are also minor errors in article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'spend money in terms of buying'. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the punctuation is generally handled well.
