Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people can easily watch movies, series and other types of entertainment on the internet. Because of which they think cinemas and theatres are no loner important. However, others believe that they still have an important role to play in the society and the economy. I belive that although online entertainment is more convenient , cinemas and theatres are necessary.
Watching entertainment online has it's own advantages. People do not need to travel to cinemas because they can watch almost anything from wherever they like to. Platforms streaming entertainment also give a variety of discounts and offers making it more reasonable. In addition people can watch it anytime they want and at there own pace. For people with busy routine it is much more convenient than going out and maybe these are the reasons they feel cinemas are less important.
On the other hand cinemas and theatres provide experience which cannot be replaced by watching it online. For example watching a movie on big screen does'nt feel the same because of the sound and the screen. Going out can also be a good way to socialise or spend time with friends and family. And same is for for theatres where different kinds of live performances takes place and cannot be same online.
Moreover, cinemas and theatres are importand for economy and culture as they provide jobs for many people , nearby restaurants , malls and other businesses. Theatres keep traditionals plays music and dance alive.
In conclusion, online entertainment is cheaper and more convenient , but I do not think it can replace cinemas completely.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the convenience of online entertainment and the cultural/economic importance of physical venues. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention that theatres provide jobs and support local businesses, this point could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit brief and could have better summarised the main arguments to provide a more robust final statement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the topic. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'However', 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader. While the progression is generally clear, some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level flow, such as the repetitive use of 'and' to connect clauses. Improving the variety of linking phrases and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task and allows for clear communication. You demonstrate a sufficient range to discuss the topic, using terms like 'convenient', 'socialise', and 'performances'. However, there are some spelling errors ('loner' instead of 'longer', 'belive' instead of 'believe', 'importand' instead of 'important') and minor collocation issues. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more precise, less common vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'cinematic experience', 'cultural heritage', or 'economic stimulus', while ensuring accurate spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Because of which they think' (fragment), 'it's own advantages' (incorrect possessive), 'there own pace' (incorrect homophone), and 'performances takes place' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation errors, such as missing commas and incorrect apostrophes (e.g., 'does'nt'), are also present. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation would be highly beneficial.
