Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 146 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While you attempt to address both views and state an opinion, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The essay ends abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full discussion of the topic. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples and ensure you complete the essay structure, including a clear conclusion that summarizes your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows some attempt at organization with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the progression is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First for most' and 'In culturally', but these are often grammatically incorrect or awkward. Paragraphing is insufficient, and the lack of a conclusion makes the overall structure feel incomplete. To improve, focus on using transition signals more accurately and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by well-developed supporting ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several errors in word choice and form, such as 'art no longer important' (are) and 'in economically and culturally' (economically and culturally). The phrase 'entertainment shows' is somewhat repetitive. To achieve a higher score, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct word forms. Expanding your range of collocations will also help convey your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('other argues', 'it provide'), incorrect prepositions ('in economically'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at a complex sentence at the end is incomplete. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practicing the use of complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences will also help improve your range.
