Student answer (Band 5.0)
As far as this topic is concerned, I would like to say that the people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinimas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online other argue that theatres and cinemas are still important botj economically and culturally, which has always been debatable and has now become more controversial with many people claiming that it is beneficial while others reject this notion. The substantial influence of this trend has sparked the controversy over the potential impact in the recent years. From my perspective, the former proposition appears to be more rational. This essay will further elaborate my views for favoring the positive or negative impact of this trend and thus will lead to a logical conclusion.
Analyzing the statement further, the primary reason behind this is theatres and cinemas provide a unique experience that people cannot fully get at home. Watching a movie on a large screen with high-quality sound can be more enjoyable and exciting. Categorically discussing, it cannot be ignored that the main reason behind this is that especially in our country, it has far-reaching consequences.local films and stage performances can introduce cultural values to younger generations.
Moving further, it is pertinent to mention that it is the basic duty of the government to provide a safe and stable society for the betterment of the public. It is imperative for the authorities concerned to look into the factor behind this issue and take a drastic action against the concerned persons.
To encapsulate, I would like to appeal to the learned figures to come forward, focus their gaze at this issue and launch a vigorous campaign to reform it across the society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address the prompt effectively. While it mentions both views, the development is superficial and lacks logical progression. The student copies large portions of the prompt in the introduction, which is not credited. The body paragraphs do not provide a balanced discussion; instead, they veer into irrelevant arguments about government responsibility and 'learned figures,' which are not related to the importance of cinemas. The position is unclear, and the essay lacks the necessary depth to explore the economic and cultural arguments required by the task. Consequently, the response does not fully address the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear logical structure. While there are some transition signals like 'Moving further' and 'To encapsulate,' they are used mechanically and often do not connect to the preceding ideas. The paragraphing is inconsistent, and the final paragraph contains a repetitive, ungrammatical sentence fragment. The flow of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. The lack of clear topic sentences and the inclusion of irrelevant content significantly hinder the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'cinimas' and 'botj,' which indicate a lack of attention to detail. The student relies on generic phrases like 'the potential impact' and 'the betterment of the public' without demonstrating the ability to use more precise or academic vocabulary relevant to the topic of media and culture. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas, and the word choice is often awkward or inappropriate for an academic essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues, missing articles, and awkward sentence construction. For example, 'the people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinimas are no longer important' is a run-on sentence that lacks proper punctuation. There is a lack of complex structures, and the sentences that are attempted often contain errors that impede clarity. The final paragraph is particularly problematic, featuring a repeated, fragmented sentence that suggests a lack of control over basic syntax and proofreading.
