IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online. Others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
In modern times, both plays an important role in the society. People love to watch theatre as well majority prefer online entertainment. Both have different aspects.
Nowadays, in the rapidly changing world, the trend of theatres and cinemas shifted to Onlinqe entertainment platforms. Peopla are busy in earning their likelihood and they prefer not to spend time and money on cinemas, while on the other hand the dogital entertainment is free to access, manageable and convinient. People like to spend hours on digital media as it is economical and require no effort at all. For cinmeas and theatres, first need to book tickets and then give physical effort through walking or drive to go the destination, then buy snacks or drinks which bring extra charges.
On the contrary, Those who are close to culture and enjoyed their time and spend money on art prefer cinemas. They think that every entertainment could not be seen on digital. They beleive these gadgets are for different purposes. For example: phone calls, texting and social media but not for entertainment. They think that art have significant place in society and one should enjoy the art only by going to cinema because cinmea and theatre is the only platform to enjoy art and drama.
