Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the arguement related to theatres, the proponents states that in this modern technology era, theatres and cinemas are now not essential to individuals, as they can binge watch all the entertainment online on various gadgets. While the opponents argue that theatres and cinemas are still imporatant both economically and culturally. This eassy will be discussing both the perspective and give the opinion on the behalf of opponents as in recent times, still many people chose to watch movies on a big screen because it gives well equipped facilities of dark rooms and voice system that cannot be provided at home.

On the one hand, the people supporting in favour of outdated cinemas think in digital world, people have all the movies, shows, and web series online. In other words, techology has grown where individuals can watch everything through provided websites like Netflix, Prime Videos, Zee and some others that provides more than 1000 shows and movies. For Instance, research shows the ratio of people watching movies in theatres have dropped because the online websites give countless shows with flexible amount of subscription.

On the other hand, the opponents argues that theatres are still the sole for many people, who loves to watch some of the famous and top hit moives of the time in cinemas only. In other words, a handful of individuals are confortable to spent their money on great movies, comedy shows and some other because it gives them a sense of presentness and the facilites of dark room and voice system that enhances the movies and shows in theatres. To exemplify, my own experience of going to watch a famous movie name Micheal inspired on the life of Micheal Jackson, it was a dream and watching it in cinemas was worth the experience as it gave more close space and connectivity with a room of silence

In conclusion, even though many people are in favour of watching entertainment online with comfort and low budget. In my opinion theatres are still alive as they are the core source culturally and economically for upbringing of cinemas along with this they provide reasonable charges.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—the decline of theatres due to online streaming and their ongoing economic and cultural importance—and clearly presents the writer's own opinion in favour of the latter. Ideas are extended and supported, such as mentioning the superior audio-visual facilities of cinemas and personal viewing experiences. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise or lean slightly informal in expression, which prevents it from reaching the highest bands. Overall, the task is well handled and the position is clear throughout, aligning closely with Band 6.5 to Band 7 criteria.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organised into four distinct paragraphs, following a traditional introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the structure. However, referencing is occasionally unclear, and some transitional phrases feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In the arguement related to theatres, the proponents states...' Paragraphing is used appropriately, but overall progression could be smoother. These features place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for an academic discussion, incorporating terms such as 'proponents', 'economically', 'culturally', and 'subscription'. However, there are numerous lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'arguement', 'imporatant', 'eassy', 'chose' (instead of chosen), 'techology', and 'confertable'. While the vocabulary is adequate to convey meaning and allows for some less common items, these recurring inaccuracies and spelling slips prevent the score from exceeding Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the proponents states', 'the opponents argues', 'websites... that provides'), tense usage, and prepositions. For instance, phrases like 'supporting in favour of' and 'spent their money' demonstrate weaknesses in grammatical accuracy. While communication is rarely impeded completely, the density of errors keeps the performance at a Band 5.5 level.
