Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, many facilities are available to the public because of technological improvement such as order food online, book appointments in applications and watch movies in ott application. By such online entertainments some people believed that there is no need of cinemas and theatres as people can watch everything online. While, other believed that cinemas is still important for economically and culturally.

People prefered to get entertainment from online as there are many people which was quite busy on their routines and cannot able to watch movies in theatres because the show time is fixed and it take about 2-3 hours to watch a movie. So people prefered to watch movies in weekends whenever they like and watch it comfortablely. It also has a drawback such as movie ticket are generally having higher prices and if it is been watched online it will become less expensive. It also allow people to watch more than one movie and can watch any time of the day after taking subscription of online application.

On the other hands, there are many people which prefered to get entertainment from cinemas. By watching movies in cinemas people gets a new experience which they not able to get while watching at home. Additionally, in cinemas there was a big screen which give better experience than watching movies on phone or laptop as it has small screen comparativily. It also helps economically and culturally as people visting theatres can buy foods and beverages while watching movies.

In my opnions, People should get entertainments from theatres and cinemas as it gives better sounds and screen than people use to watch it at their homes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the view that online entertainment replaces theatres and cinemas, and the view that physical venues remain economically and culturally important. The writer also includes a clear personal opinion in the final paragraph. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the arguments regarding online entertainment focus mainly on convenience and ticket prices, while the counter-argument regarding physical cinemas relies heavily on the 'big screen' and food purchases. Some points are stated rather than fully extended. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 5.5 to Band 6.0 descriptors, earning a solid Band 6.0 for addressing all task components with relevant, though slightly underdeveloped, ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four paragraphs, demonstrating a basic logical structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. The student relies on basic connectors like 'While, other believed' and 'On the other hands,' which contain grammatical flaws. Referencing is also weak in places, such as 'many people which was quite busy' and 'if it is been watched online.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal logical progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt transitions and repetitive phrasing. Because the overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow despite these mechanical errors, the text comfortably meets the Band 5.0 criteria.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, incorporating general terms related to entertainment, such as 'facilities,' 'ott application,' 'subscriptions,' and 'beverages.' However, there are numerous lexical and collocational inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'order food online' instead of ordering food, and 'visting theatres' with a spelling error. Attempts at less common vocabulary often result in awkward word choices or incorrect forms, such as 'comfortablely.' Vocabulary control is fairly basic and repetitive, meaning the response sits at the threshold of Band 5, where errors in word choice are noticeable and occasionally cause mild distraction for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety through relative clauses ('which was quite busy') and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in verb tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions throughout the essay, such as 'some people believed' (instead of believe), 'people prefered to get' (instead of prefer), 'it take about 2-3 hours,' and 'In my opnions.' Furthermore, punctuation and word forms show recurring flaws. Because these errors occur frequently and can occasionally impede smooth comprehension, the performance aligns most closely with the Band 5 descriptors.
