Student answer (Band 5.5)

In this Digital age, everything is transforming and changing at its own pace. We have came up with a lot of advancements in our daily lives, in almost every field of life. And to be honest, it need of time, its Human nature to evolve and strive for best.

In these unlimited changes, Technology played a very vital role in our lives to groom our lifestyles, to teach us, to help us, to entertain us and much more. Nowadays, any Entertainment show, and Blog, any Web series is just some taps away from us, enabling us to spend our free time in our comfortable spaces. For example if I am in my office, in my break time, I will scroll some social media, play any games or watch any web show by sitting in my office, if I have no time to visit Cinema. It much handy and portable and many people prefer this.

On the other hand, in weekends or holidays, visiting cinemas or theatres is a very entertaining and much healthy activity for our relations. We invite our friends and family to visit such places, which adds up to our memories and quality time.

So in my point of view, both the cases have their own importance, and such places must be expanded, as they prove entertaining, economically, as well as culturally important in our society. People can choose where to spend time according to their ease and avalibility, but saying that Theatres and Cinemas are;nt important anymore, I don't support that.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the view that digital entertainment makes theatres obsolete and the counterargument that they remain economically and culturally important, while also clearly stating the writer's own opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies on basic generalization rather than fully extended arguments. For example, the point about social media and breaking time is relevant but remains brief and conversational rather than thoroughly explored. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of support places this response comfortably in Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs. However, paragraphing is somewhat irregular and ideas within paragraphs can feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are occasionally used (e.g., 'On the other hand', 'So in my point of view'), but referencing is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The transition between sentences lacks smooth logical progression in places, particularly in the opening paragraph where sentences feel fragmented. Overall, the organizational structure meets the criteria for Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'advancements', 'groom our lifestyles', and 'economically as well as culturally important'. However, there are notable word-choice errors, unnatural collocations, and punctuation flaws in the vocabulary usage, such as 'It much handy and portable' and 'avalibility'. Furthermore, the informal, conversational tone ('to be honest', 'some taps away') limits the lexical score. This vocabulary profile aligns with Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but encounters frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues. Examples include subject-verb agreement and tense errors like 'We have came up', 'it need of time', 'Technology played a very vital role... to groom', and 'Cinemas are;nt important'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur regularly and detract from the accuracy of the complex structures attempted. Control of grammar and punctuation is inconsistent, reflecting the Band 5 descriptors.
