Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both views regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas versus online entertainment, and it provides a personal opinion in support of their continued cultural and economic significance. However, the development of ideas is limited and often unclear due to expression issues. For instance, the writer mentions that IMAX movies can only be displayed in cinemas with special screens, and touches upon economic factors like electric fees, but these points are under-developed and lack clear logical expansion. The position is discernible, but the overall task coverage remains at a Band 5 level because the arguments are disjointed, repetitive, and lack the depth expected for higher band scores.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The organization of the text suffers from poor paragraphing and a lack of clear overall progression. The response is divided into only two long paragraphs, and the transitions between ideas are abrupt and confusing. For example, starting with 'Is interesting to see that kind views like...' immediately sets a disjointed tone. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as 'For this point, i rather say' and 'And i would fully support for theatres and cinemas'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of argument. This level of organization aligns with Band 4 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent inaccuracies that strain the reader's comprehension. Examples of weak or incorrect phrasing include 'tape discord player', 'were screen by camera', and 'take-out and seat down ways'. The writer attempts some less common terms, such as 'abundant fees' and 'economically and culturally', but inappropriate word choices and collocations heavily restrict precision and flexibility. Spelling and word-form errors, such as 'commons and felling' for 'common ground and feeling', place the lexical control firmly at a Band 4 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the essay, with a very limited range of structures and frequent intrusive errors. Sentences often lack basic components, such as missing subjects ('Is interesting to see', 'is convenience should not be reasons'), and incorrect verb forms ('can only displayed', 'can not replace with anything'). Punctuation is also problematic, leading to run-on sentences and comma splices, as seen in 'For this point, i rather say, IMAX movie can only displayed in cinema, where have special screen...'. Because errors are frequent, distort meaning in places, and impede smooth communication, the grammar is characteristic of Band 4.
