Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views, mentioning the digital convenience of online platforms and the economic and cultural importance of cinemas. However, the essay is incomplete, stopping abruptly in the middle of the third paragraph and failing to include the writer's own opinion as explicitly required by the prompt. Ideas are introduced but remain under-developed, particularly the second viewpoint regarding cultural and economic contributions, which is cut short. These limitations align closely with the Band 5 descriptors, where the task is addressed only partially and ideas are limited or under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
There is a basic organizational structure with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, the first viewpoint, and the start of the second viewpoint. However, the progression is disrupted because the essay is incomplete. Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or used inaccurately, such as 'While, this features made much more convinent' and 'Regardly, this provide the work'. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of a concluding paragraph and the abrupt termination of the text prevent higher scores. This performance fits the Band 5 descriptor where there is some organization, but overall progression is hindered and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'utilization', 'entertainment', and 'revenue', but faces frequent spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Examples include 'ceratin' instead of certain, 'threatres' instead of theatres, 'convinent' instead of convenient, 'fexiable' instead of flexible, and 'flims' instead of films. Collocation errors are also present, such as 'heatres and cinemas are still plays vital roles'. These issues cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited, minimally adequate range of vocabulary, corresponding to a Band 5 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses ('platforms, where we can watch any time') and conditional-style reasoning. However, control over grammar and punctuation is weak, with frequent errors that impede comprehension at times. Notable errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('ceratin individuals holds', 'cinemas contributed', 'theatres and cinemas are still plays'), missing articles ('an easy access'), and incorrect word forms ('young generation people also reduce to went cinemas'). Because complex structures are frequently faulty and basic rules are broken, the response sits firmly at Band 5.
