Student answer (Band 6.0)
As per some individuals, digitalization has made it convenient for people to watch all the entertainment shows online which has decreased the importance of theatres and cinemas. Others believe that theatres and cinemas are essential both economically and culturally. Both the views are imperative to be discussed before forming an opinion.
Considering the first perspective, in the modern era several OTT and social media platforms provide an opportunity to watch all the movies and shows online while sitting anywhere. People find it more easier than going to cinemas because it saves their precious time and is definitely more affordable. Additionally, streaming favorite shows in their own bed is considered more comfortable by individuals owing to the fact that it provides flexibility. It is possible to enjoy a particular movie any time and even on repeat. As a result people nowadays prefer theatres less. For instance, a theatre named Box Office in New Delhi has not reported any housefull show for even the top rated movies , for the last two years.
Shifting towards the second thought, theatres and cinemas are important for the economy and cultural heritage of a nation. The funds produced from the ticket money are used by the government for several welfare programs and social works. Moreover, whenever when displayed in theatres, movies foster cultural values and a sense of unity among citizens. Humans from different religions, following different cultures sit under the same roof which connects them.
Having considered both sides of the arguments, I would like to infer that although cinemas support a nation in terms of finance and also inculcates cultural ethics, online streaming apps and platforms are more convenient and accessible for individuals in the modern era.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the decline of theatres due to online streaming and their ongoing economic and cultural importance, while also providing a clear personal opinion. The student presents relevant ideas, such as convenience, affordability, and the economic and social value of cinemas. However, some ideas lack deep extension. For example, the mention of a specific theatre in New Delhi ('Box Office') is a good attempt at an example, but the assertion that it has not reported a housefull show in two years is slightly unsupported. Nevertheless, the main positions are well-identified, and a clear stance is maintained throughout the essay. This performance aligns well with Band 6.5 or 7.0 descriptors, specifically fulfilling the requirements for Band 6.0 by addressing all parts with relevant ideas, though some are slightly under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a concluding thought. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Considering the first perspective', 'Additionally', and 'Shifting towards the second thought'. However, there are some minor mechanical issues and abrupt endings, notably the incomplete final sentence ('In conclusion, besides...'). Referencing is mostly clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally feels slightly formulaic. Overall, the organization is sufficient for a Band 6.0, as the progression is clear overall despite some faulty or mechanical cohesion in places.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, with attempts to incorporate less common items and topic-specific vocabulary such as 'digitalization', 'cultural heritage', and 'welfare programs'. However, there are some slight lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations, such as 'more easier' (which combines a comparative modifier with an 'er' adjective) and 'social works' instead of 'social work' or 'community projects'. The range of vocabulary allows the student to communicate their ideas clearly, though spelling and word-choice errors do occasionally appear. These features are characteristic of Band 6.0, where the writer has an adequate range for the task and attempts less common vocabulary with some inaccuracy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and participial phrases (e.g., 'owing to the fact that it provides flexibility' and 'Whenever when displayed in theatres...'). There are, however, several grammatical errors and awkward structures throughout the text, including the double comparative 'more easier', an unnecessary word repetition in 'whenever when displayed', and subject-verb agreement or preposition slips like 'Humans from different religions... sit under the same roof'. Furthermore, the response trails off abruptly at the end ('In conclusion, besides...'). Despite these flaws, the errors rarely impede overall communication. This warrants a Band 6.0, as there is a mix of sentence structures with some errors that do not prevent the reader from understanding the message.
