It is indisputable that every coin has two sides, and so do people. Society is divided into two groups. Therefore, some people think say that in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the etertainment they want online, while others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. This has become a topic of debate. This essay will discuss both views and give my own opinion, which is in favour of the former view.
Initiating with the first school of thought, the primary advantage is that it comfortable enviroment. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing an opinion. However, the position stated in the introduction is somewhat confusingly worded as 'in favour of the former view' while the conclusion discusses comfort and online watching, making the exact stance slightly muddled. Furthermore, ideas are repetitive and under-developed, particularly in the body paragraphs where points about comfort and social skills are restated without sufficient expansion or relevant examples. Crucially, the Length Check reports that the response contains 249 words, which falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This minor word count deficiency, combined with the under-developed ideas and somewhat unclear stance, leads to a score of 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some overall organization with standard transitional markers such as 'Initiating with the first school of thought', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand'. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by repetitive phrasing and awkward linking. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is often faulty or mechanical, as seen in sentences like 'As a result, they can invest money on other activity. Secondly, people can feel comfotable environment.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the mechanical repetition of ideas impedes the smooth flow of the text. Based on these limitations, the coherence and cohesion correspond to a band score of 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, featuring frequent errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples of lexical inadequacy include 'etertainment', 'comfotable environment', 'thetres', and 'onlinewatch entertainment'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are often marred by inaccuracies, such as 'mind set of the people'. The range is sufficient to convey a rudimentary message, but noticeability of errors and limited flexibility place this response firmly at a band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay exhibits a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside poorly controlled complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'Therefore, some people think say that...', 'if people can watch online movie at home they save their money', and 'people who hold another viewpoint that theatres and cinema are still important'. Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the grammar from reaching a higher band, resulting in a score of 5.0.
