Student answer (Band 5.0)
Opinions are divided on whether in the digital age, theatres and cinemas are no longer important as people can watch all the entertainment they want online or they are still important both economically and culturally. As the time has passed, early generation has passed onto the modern era full of internet facilities from household chores to entertainment and works. Nevertheless, I believe that theatres are still crucial.
Overall, there are various pros and cons of having internet while comparing it with theatres and cinemas because internet has made people spending time alone or having virtual meeting which leads a person to social anxiety. However, cinemas and theatres are the place where there is a lot of seats and a big screen for a lot of people to watch with a full entertainment so, a person can go there with his/her family and friends or parthner which leads them to be able to open up themselves, helps in building social character and making relationships with other people.
Moreover, theatres and cinemas are opened through business norms also which helps some people to have income by getting a job there which means it is still important economically and the thing about culture, there is one when the first launch of the movie is done in theatre, film artists pray and do some kind of rituals so their movie will be promoted and loved by the people watching there. Furthermore, as in my country there is still a rules here that when the new movie trailer is launched, it is done through social media and youtube but while realeasing the movie it is done only in the specific theatre not posting into any kind of social media or websites throughout some years. Thus, that is also the main reason that even we are in digital era, the places like theatre and cinemas are still one of the significant thing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on whether theatres and cinemas are obsolete or still important economically and culturally, while also providing the writer's own opinion in the introduction. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are a bit repetitive and under-developed, particularly the cultural argument regarding film premieres and rituals. While the arguments are relevant, they tend to over-generalise and lack deep extension with specific real-world examples. For instance, mentioning specific economic figures or cultural practices would have strengthened the development. Nevertheless, the prompt has been adequately covered, fitting well within the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and logical progression, divided into clear paragraphs. Basic cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as 'Nevertheless', 'Overall', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, the sentence 'which leads a person to social anxiety' has a dangling relative pronoun connection, and the phrase 'the thing about culture, there is one when...' is awkward and disrupts the flow of information. Paragraphing is present and separates the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion appropriately, but internal sentence transitions can be clumsy at times.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas about technology, entertainment, and social interaction. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary and phrases such as 'digital age', 'business norms', and 'significant thing'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word forms, such as 'parthner' (partner), 'realeasing' (releasing), and 'opened through business norms'. Furthermore, phrasing like 'a full entertainment' and 'opening up themselves' sounds unnatural. These errors do not impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capability to construct multi-clause sentences. However, frequent grammatical errors and punctuation issues persist throughout the text. There are problems with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and prepositions, such as 'As the time has passed, early generation has passed onto...', 'there is still a rules here', and 'even we are in digital era'. Many complex structures are faulty or overly long, containing run-on tendencies that strain the reader. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally decipherable, aligning closely with the Band 5 descriptor.
