Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the digital age, people have easy access to a wide range of entertainment through the internet. Some people therefore believe that theaters and cinemas are no longer necessary, while others argue that they continue to have economic and cultural importance. This eassy will discuss both views before explainning why i believe there places are still valuable.
On the one hand, online entertainment has made cinemas and theatres less esstential thn they were in the past. People can now watch films, television programmes and live performance from the comfrot of their homes. Streaming platforms are generally more convenient and can also be cheaper than buying cinemas tickets. Furthermore, online entertainment allows people to choose what they want to watch at any time, which is particularly usefful for those peole prefer watching filsm at home because they can pause them, watch them with their families and avoid traveeling.
On the other hand, theaters and cinmeas still play an important role in the society. Economically, they provide employment for actors, directors and technicinas, cleaners for local business such as restaurants and sjops. From a cutural persepectives, theaters provide a shared environment where people can experience performance together. Similarly, watching a film on a large cinmea screen with high-quality sound can offer an experince that is difficult to reproduce at home. For instance, major film relaes often attract large audiences and create a sence of excitement and community.
In my opinion, although online entertainment has reduced the independence on cinemas and theraters, it has nkit made then irrevelant. Both forms of entertainment can exist together becuase they offer different experinces. Online platforms are convenient and flexible, whereas cinemas and theaters are provide socila, cultural and immersive experiences.
In conclusion, the rise of didgital entertainment has undoubtedly reduced the need for tarditional entertainment venues. However, cinemas and theaters remain economically and culturally significant, and I believe thy will continue to have an important place in modern society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that cinemas are obsolete versus their ongoing economic and cultural importance—and providing a clear personal opinion. The writer presents relevant supporting ideas, such as the convenience of online streaming contrasted with the employment and social benefits provided by physical venues. However, there are minor lapses in task execution, such as a typographical error in the thesis statement ('explainning why i believe there places are still valuable') and some underdeveloped supporting examples. Overall, the ideas are extended and supported, placing the response solidly in the Band 6.5 to 7 range. Because the descriptors for Band 7 describe a clear position and well-extended ideas throughout despite minor flaws, a score of 6.5 is awarded here due to slight under-development in body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression with a recognizable introduction, distinct body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. The writer successfully uses standard cohesive markers such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. However, referencing is occasionally faulty, as seen in the phrase 'there places' instead of 'their places'. Additionally, some transitions within paragraphs feel slightly mechanical. While the logical organization is clear throughout, the mechanical use of cohesive devices and minor referencing errors prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Therefore, a score of 6.0 is appropriate based on the coherence descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms related to the prompt such as 'digital age', 'streaming platforms', 'employment', and 'cultural perspective'. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'immersive experiences' and 'indispensable' (attempted). However, the text contains a notable number of spelling errors, including 'eassy', 'esstential', 'thn', 'comfrot', 'usefful', 'peole', 'filsm', 'traveeling', 'cinmeas', 'technicinas', 'sjops', 'perpsepectives', 'relaes', 'sence', 'nkit', 'irrevelant', 'becuase', 'experinces', 'socila', 'didgital', 'tarditional', and 'thy'. These spelling mistakes and occasional word-choice issues do not severely impede communication, but they restrict the score. The lexical range is sufficient for the task, meriting a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures appropriately in places (e.g., 'People can now watch films... which is particularly useful for those people prefer watching films at home'). However, there are frequent grammatical and mechanical errors throughout the text, such as missing prepositions or incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'reduced the independence on cinemas' instead of 'dependence', 'cinemas and theaters are provide', and 'thy will continue'). Punctuation and capitalization errors also appear, such as lowercase 'i' in 'i believe'. Although these errors rarely impede overall communication, the frequency of inaccuracies means the response falls short of Band 7, which requires frequent error-free sentences. A band score of 6.0 accurately reflects the mix of structures alongside noticeable grammatical and mechanical errors.
