Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by discussing both views on the importance of theatres and cinemas versus online platforms, and states a personal opinion agreeing with the former view. However, the task achievement is severely compromised by the length requirement. The text contains only 160 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum. Because of this major under-length penalty, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or detailed examples. Phrases like 'My justification will be provided in upcoming paragraph with relevant exampels' fail to deliver the expected substance. Consequently, the response achieves a Band 4.0 for Task Achievement due to its minimal length and underdeveloped stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text is divided into three short paragraphs, which attempts a basic structure, but the organization and progression are weak. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, resulting in a disjointed flow. For instance, transitional phrases like 'To begin with' and 'On the other hand' are introduced, but the sentences following them do not logically build upon one another. Referencing is also problematic, as seen in 'Others individuals disagree with later view', which creates confusion for the reader. There is a lack of effective paragraphing and logical progression, leading to a score of Band 4.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The student uses a very basic and repetitive vocabulary range, with frequent word choice and spelling errors that strain the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'tradionally' instead of 'traditionally', 'lomger' instead of 'longer', 'moderne' instead of 'modern', and 'shoesnbad' instead of 'shows bad'. The student relies heavily on simple words and phrases such as 'watch movie on phone' and 'save money and other travelling cost'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items, and spelling errors occur throughout the text. This fits the Band 4.0 descriptor for Lexical Resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the response. The student exhibits a very limited range of sentence structures, and almost every sentence contains major grammatical errors. Examples include tense and subject-verb agreement issues like 'Few individuals told that', 'people has mobile phone so it can easily show a movie', and 'cinemas ans theares are affect the individuals'. Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic, with missing spaces after periods and commas. Because errors are frequent, repetitive, and occasionally distort meaning, this performance corresponds to a Band 4.0 for Grammatical Range and Accuracy.
