Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 103 words. Consequently, the task is addressed only minimally and remains severely undeveloped. While the writer attempts to introduce both views and state a personal position in the introduction, the body paragraphs trail off before any arguments can be properly extended or supported. For example, the second paragraph starts to discuss the stress-reducing role of cinemas but breaks off mid-thought: 'For an example, In some nations people spend more time with family'. Due to the extreme under-length nature of the response, it falls under Band 4 descriptors for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text shows an attempt at logical organisation with introductory and transitional markers like 'To embark upon'. However, because the essay is unfinished, the overall progression is heavily disrupted. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is incomplete, consisting of a single broken sentence and an unfinished example. Referencing and cohesive devices are minimally applied, but the lack of developed body paragraphs prevents a clear logical flow from being established throughout. This aligns with a Band 5 performance for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses a limited range of vocabulary with noticeable errors that occasionally impede understanding. Phrases such as 'technology play very important role' and 'cinema and theatre are important for learning both economically and cultural' demonstrate frequent word-choice and grammatical form inaccuracies. Words are repeated awkwardly, as seen in 'best best source'. While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'ascribed' and 'entertainment', the overall lexical control is restricted to basic and repetitive items, fitting the Band 5 descriptor criteria.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The student displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent basic errors. Examples of significant structural and agreement errors include 'technology play very important role' (subject-verb agreement), 'people spend more time in theatres and cinemas are best source' (run-on/faulty clause structure), and 'I am favour in the former view' (preposition error). Complex structures are attempted but are heavily flawed. Because errors are frequent and cause difficulty for the reader, a Band 4 is appropriate.
