Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is believe by many individuals that in the modern time theaters and cinemas are no longer crucial as mankind watch all the entertainment online. On the ither gand some people argued that they are still crucial for economically moreover cultural terms. I partially agree with both the notions that I discuss further

To commence with the watching online, it is true that in contemporary world every one owns a smart phone and they all are connected with entertainment site. This is beneficial in many terms. It saves the money that people tend to spent on watching movies in cinemas. Nevetheless it also saves the time, mainly to those who are engaged in some higher job positions and do not have enough time to visit the theaters and cinemas for instance it is observed through a survey that most of the working people used some sites to watch the movies of their favourite celebrities rathar than watching in big cinemas and theathers. This also benefical to spent time with our hiuseholds mainly in weekends

On the other hand, theaters and cinemas are vital for economically and culturally. Firstly economically if the cunemas are no longer exsits then the source of remunration for the directors and actors will be reduced because cinemas pay the higher amounts to the directors to visualise theirs movie. After that it also impact culturally. As watching movies is also a tradition in every nation if the source of income is not reliable to the team of the film then they are not able to make the pictyres related to the demand of the general public

To conclude that, both the notions are equally acceptable as if the cinemas are no longer exist then it results in cultural and economical factors if people watch the movies online this will also save a part of their income.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that cinemas are obsolete due to online viewing, and that they remain economically and culturally important—while providing a partial personal opinion. The ideas are generally relevant, though some arguments are rather thin and lack full development. For instance, the point regarding directors and actors losing revenue if cinemas close is introduced, but it lacks specific supporting examples or deeper elaboration. Similarly, the conclusion briefly summarises the main ideas but feels a bit abrupt. However, the writer successfully demonstrates an understanding of the task requirements and maintains a clear position throughout. Because all parts of the prompt are covered with relevant, albeit slightly under-developed ideas, the response aligns best with the criteria for Band 6.0 in Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate the different viewpoints, which helps guide the reader. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic transitional phrases like 'To commence with', 'Nevetheless', and 'After that', some of which are awkwardly phrased or contain typos (e.g., 'ither gand'). Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as in the concluding sentence which trails off grammatically. While logical organisation is present, the frequent lapses in cohesive devices and referencing place this response firmly in Band 5.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their basic ideas about online entertainment versus traditional cinemas. There are attempts to use less common words and phrases, such as 'contemporary world', 'remuneration', and 'visualise theirs movie', but these attempts are frequently marred by spelling mistakes and word-choice errors (e.g., 'cunemas', 'exsits', 'pictyres', 'hiuseholds'). Spelling errors are noticeable throughout the text and occasionally cause slight ambiguity for the reader, although communication is not severely impeded. Because the lexical range is minimally adequate and contains frequent noticeable errors in spelling and word formation, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in sentence structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions throughout the text, such as 'It is believe', 'mankind watch', 'people tend to spent', and 'most of the working people used'. Punctuation is also sparse and inconsistent, with missing periods and commas that make several sentences run together awkwardly. Although the meaning can generally be deciphered despite these persistent errors, the frequency of grammatical mistakes means the structures lack reliable control, corresponding to Band 5.0.
