Student answer (Band 5.5)
People argue on the topic that in this modern era where everything is digitalized and movies or shows can be watch at streaming sites there is no need of theatres, while some individuals have strong opinion on the fact that cinemas posses economic and cultural importance.
To begin with, cinemas produce a significant revenue that has key beneficts for countries economy. For example, when a movie is released people view and when it become hit it gives back a high revenue more than used on production. Individuals opt for watching movies at cinema as they can have outing, go shopping afterwards or can eat outside.
Other individuals prefer streaming sites for a relaxing time. Where they can watch anything of their own prefernce while relaxing in their beds or sofa. For example, streaming sites like Netflix or Prime video have greats movies or series to watch, with a pause, rewind or double speed option in yours hands. You can easily binge watch the movie or series.
While, modern digitalized era has its own perks of relaxzation at the term of your own choices; However the cinemas posses a great importance for a fact that people socialize their, they meet new faces, makes new friends. Have a relaxing time outside of home. Also, there are quite new open air cinemas where you can have great experience.
In my opinion, the cinemas and theatres curcial for individuals to socialize have a new experience with their friends or collegue.
In conclusion, both arguements have their own beneficits on the society and countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the dominance of online streaming and the economic/cultural importance of physical venues—while providing a personal opinion in the conclusion and body. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks deep extension. For example, the economic argument mentions that movies generate revenue, but does not elaborate further on industry growth or job creation. Similarly, the point about socialisation is introduced late in the prompt's progression rather than being fully synthesised. The position is clear, but the support tends to over-generalise rather than using well-developed examples. This performance aligns best with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. There is a heavy reliance on basic transitional markers such as 'To begin with' and 'Other individuals', and some sentences feel disjointed due to abrupt shifts, as seen in the sentence starting with 'While, modern digitalized era...'. Furthermore, referencing and paragraph unity could be improved; the final body paragraph touches on socialisation, which was partially hinted at earlier but lacks a smooth logical progression. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion requires better management. These features place the response firmly at Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms like 'digitalized', 'revenue', 'production', and 'socialize'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'beneficts' instead of benefits, 'countries economy' instead of country's economy, 'prefernce' instead of preference, and 'curcial' instead of crucial. The writer attempts less common lexical items, but inaccuracies in spelling and collocation occasionally emerge, though they do not seriously impede communication. This matches the Band 6 lexical profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ability to vary sentence structures. However, there is a high frequency of grammatical and punctuation errors. Examples include missing auxiliary verbs in 'can be watch at streaming sites', incorrect preposition use such as 'socialize their' instead of 'socialize there', and awkward phrasing like 'at the term of your own choices'. Punctuation is also problematic, particularly with comma splices and misplaced periods, such as starting a sentence with 'While, modern...'. Because these errors frequently cause friction for the reader and prevent error-free sentences from dominating, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
