Student answer (Band 5.0)

This is ongoing debate that some people believe that there should be no longer place for theatres and cinemas because people can enjoy digitally wherever and whenever they want. Other having view that there is much more place for theatres and cinemas because it enhanced the country economically and culturally.

Nowadays, the world grows artificial intelligence, everyone has his own busy schedule accordingly their working hours. So when he got time, he enjoys entertainment just with a click by his smart phone or computer. Everyone can easily access to the digital world, and have no time manage to visit theater and cinemas physically. It took more time to get into the public place and enjoy the movie.

On the other hand, some are having the view that there must be a special place for theatres because whenever you decided to spend time with your near and dear ones, you comfortably explore Cinemas nearest you. Where everyone have much more convenience with their family and friends. If we spent on theaters and movie screening it promote our country progressively. The country flourishes economically. It also gives access to those who can reach out to the technology easily.

To conclude that I'm in the view that there should be some budget to spend on these assets which gives success to the motherland, but not to much budget is for these places because people can also have digital devices to be entertained.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on theatres and cinemas and providing a personal opinion. However, the student's word count is 239 words, which fails to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words. This under-length impacts the development of ideas, leading to some under-developed arguments. For instance, the discussion on economic and cultural benefits in the third paragraph is somewhat brief and superficial. The position is clear throughout, but the lack of sufficient length prevents a fully developed response, resulting in a Band 5.0 score for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text is organized into four paragraphs, following a logical layout with an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. However, progression is sometimes hindered by abrupt transitions and mechanical cohesive devices, such as 'This is ongoing debate' and 'To conclude that I'm in the view'. Paragraphing is used, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs lacks smooth connectors. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen with pronouns like 'he got time' and 'everyone have'. Cohesion is therefore somewhat faulty, aligning best with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, but range and precision are limited. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'progressively', 'economically', and 'convenience', but these are often accompanied by word choice and collocation errors, for example, 'there should be no longer place' or 'not to much budget is for these places'. There are also minor lexical and spelling slips, such as 'smart phone' instead of 'smartphone'. The lexical resource is minimally adequate, fitting the Band 5.0 profile.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. Frequent grammatical errors impede readability and meaning in places, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone have', 'some are having the view') and tense/structure errors ('This is ongoing debate', 'accordingly their working hours'). Punctuation is basic, and complex structures frequently contain errors. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, this performance meets the criteria for Band 5.0.
