Student answer (Band 4.5)
I think so that people whos believe that the threatres and cinemas are no longer important because people watch all entertainment that they want online easily they are not having the interest to go to the cinemas for entertainment. Some people have to go cinema for the just entertinment and others go to have interest to watches movies and darama. some people watch the movies online like using the netflix or other sites and they think so that that is enough for the entertainment and they were not like to go to cinemas but some believe that we should spend the time for the entertainment to go to the cinemas and watch the movies. I believe that these type of the people are right whos goes to the cinemas because they wanna get more enjoye with the more people, they wanna watch the movies on the big screen and they wanna more entertainment with the couple of peoples, so i thisnk so that they are right. No doubt that online sites gives us much entertaiment and we can watch all the things on online from our homes but for that we can not gives the time for our outgoing entertaiment and we just stuck on it that we can entertain from the home from the online sites but we should spend our time to go out from the home and join the people for the entertaiment and watches the movies in the cinemas and enjoye that moments with the other peoples.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both views regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age, as well as providing a personal opinion. The writer mentions the perspective that online streaming is sufficient for entertainment, and contrasts it with the social and experiential benefits of visiting physical cinemas. However, the ideas are repetitive and underdeveloped, often looping back to the same points about meeting people and watching movies on a big screen without introducing further depth or varied examples. The position is stated, but the lack of well-developed supporting arguments places this performance at Band 5.0 in terms of task coverage and depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks clear paragraphing, as it consists of only two massive, dense blocks of text rather than a structured introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. This makes navigation of the text difficult for the reader. Progression of ideas is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of clear overall structure. While some basic cohesive devices like 'and', 'but', and 'so' are utilized, they are often overused and chained together within run-on sentences, resulting in inadequate and mechanical cohesion. Therefore, the overall organization aligns with Band 4.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently recycling words like 'entertainment', 'cinemas', 'movies', 'people', and 'online' multiple times within single sentences. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'outgoing entertaiment', 'more enjoye', and 'couple of peoples'. The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate to convey the basic message, but the frequent inaccuracies and lack of less common lexical items restrict the score to a Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 for adequate conveyance of the central topic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical structure is heavily compromised by a lack of punctuation and the prevalence of lengthy, poorly controlled run-on sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'people whos believe', tense inconsistencies, and incorrect verb forms such as 'watches movies' and 'enjoye that moments'. Simple sentence forms are flawed, and attempts at more complex structures frequently break down due to poor clause integration. Consequently, errors are frequent and occasionally cause strain for the reader, fitting the Band 4.0 criteria.
