Student answer (Band 6.0)
Cinemas and theatres give amusement significantly in the views of some people while some belief that no cinemas and theatres are needed as many can experience entertainment online without travelling to these places. Therefore, I will discuss both views along with my opinion in favour of cinemas and theatres.
To commence with, entertainment can be experienced without going to theatres and cinemas in views of people who are not in favour of them. They believe that having many resources for entertainment such as mobile phones, e-games, and TV screens are best for having fun. Moreover, they argue that going to these places is a waste of money. Because, in this modern era of technology, this is useless to go there for movies as in the homes one can enjoy it without spending time and money.
On the other hand, some state that theatres and cinemas are still worthy for fun purposes. These places provide people an outdoor exposure to have joy instead of just using mobile phones and others equipments at home. Furthermore, they believe that there are many economical and financial benefits to the society. Along with they think that cultural values are presented well in the cinemas through movies having various characters represnting the actaul reality of our culture. Many of them also agree that entertainment is not getting fun but also familirization to local stories and live performances in the theatres also signifies the talent of the people.
In the conclusion, in my opinion , people who are in favour of the theatres and cinemas are much in number of those who are not. I think that cinemas and thatres can provide fun as well as financial benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that cinemas and theatres are no longer important due to online entertainment, and that they remain culturally and economically vital—while also providing a clear personal opinion. The writer establishes a position in the introduction and maintains it through to the conclusion. Ideas are presented and supported, although some arguments, such as the economic benefits mentioned in the third paragraph, remain somewhat general and lack detailed expansion. For instance, the mention that 'there are many economical and financial benefits to the society' is not fully elaborated with specific examples. Nevertheless, the core requirements of the task are met, aligning well with the descriptors for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, cohesion at the sentence level is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, the transitional phrase 'To commence with' is used rather awkwardly, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'using mobile phones and others equipments'. Cohesive devices are employed, but their use lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands. The progression of ideas is generally understandable, but the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward transitions, placing this response firmly in the Band 6.0 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'familirization', 'outdoor exposure', and 'significant'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation issues, as seen in 'give amusement significantly' and 'others equipments', along with spelling errors like 'represnting', 'actaul', and 'familirization'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main arguments, but the presence of frequent slips in spelling and precision prevents the score from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structure. Examples include conditional and subordinate clauses like 'while some belief that no cinemas and theatres are needed as many can experience entertainment online'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('some belief' instead of 'some believe'), misuse of articles ('in the conclusion', 'at the homes'), and awkward phrasing ('this is useless to go there'). Punctuation errors, such as spaces before commas, also occur. These errors occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar performance at a Band 5.5.
