Student answer (Band 4.5)
Its been a long time since film industry has started and by today this industry has earned enormous profits, provided entertainment according to the age, demand and time. I personally like going to theatres and cinemas to watch any latest movie. The cinemas provide u with a whole pacakge of superior audiovisual quality, greater focus and immersion as well as social cultural expeirence. A movie dayout with ur friends is arguebly one of the best ways to kill ur social anxiety and boredom. Whenever i feel low and less entertained i make a way out to cinema seat with a good accomplise. Moving forward Giant screens fill your field of vision for a true visual learner whereas home screening or online streaming fails to copy that. Dark rooms of cinemas helping u avoid ur phones is a bonus for the viewers

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response suffers significantly from failing to meet the minimum word count requirement, clocking in at only 141 words instead of the required 250 words. Because of this severe under-length, the discussion is inherently restricted and fails to address both views and the user's opinion fully or with adequate development. While the student touches upon why they like cinemas and mentions social and cultural aspects, the broader economic arguments are completely omitted. Furthermore, the tone is overly informal and reads more like a personal blog post rather than an academic essay. Due to the incomplete nature of the response and the failure to meet the task length, it falls into the lower band categories.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The text lacks proper paragraphing, presented instead as a single block of text consisting of 141 words. This makes it difficult to follow a clear structure or logical progression of ideas. While individual sentences are generally linked sequentially, there is an absence of cohesive devices to transition smoothly between different points, such as discussing the shift from online streaming back to traditional cinemas. Referencing is also weak in places, such as using informal pronouns like 'u' without clear antecedent grounding. Overall, the organization is rudimentary and does not meet the standards for higher bands.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is overly basic, repetitive, and informal. The student relies heavily on colloquialisms and text-speak, such as 'u' instead of 'you', and phrases like 'kill ur social anxiety'. While there are attempts at less common phrasing such as 'audiovisual quality' and 'field of vision', these are overshadowed by pervasive informalities, non-standard spelling ('expeirence', 'pacakge'), and imprecise word choices ('make a way out to cinema seat with a good accomplise'). The lexical range is limited and inadequate for an academic task, straining the reader's ability to take the argument seriously.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple and flawed complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, punctuation omissions, and tense inconsistencies, such as 'Its been a long time since film industry has started' (missing articles and incorrect aspect) and 'Dark rooms of cinemas helping u avoid ur phones' (fragmented participle clause). Capitalization rules are also frequently ignored, particularly with the pronoun 'i'. The frequency of these errors impedes smooth reading and demonstrates poor grammatical control.
