Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this digital age, some people beleive that the cinema halls impotance is no longer the same as we can watch all the movies on various platforms. However, the others argue that theatres still holds a significance both economically and culturally. In my point of view with the help of technology it is covineinet to watch movies online.
First of all, people these days are spending more time at work and they prefer to come back home and relax.Since, they are busy at work they could not find time to visit theatres and return exhausted as they have to login to the office next day.Secondly,by watching movies online with a one time subscribtion we may safe a lot of money. For example, as the theatres surroundings could be tempting with alot of snacks and various item to shop.
Finally, the individuals, who are more concerned about their privacy may prefer to watch movies online and avoid the crowd. We can wear any cloth we want and do not have to worry about the looks which, we usually do if we are going outside.
On the other hand, cinemas as still important as this provide us the opportunity to socialize ourselfs by going out with friends and strenghtening the bond. The time spend to watch movie in theatres can be considered as a break from the hectic life these days due to increasing work pressure. With personal experince and adding a fun element in your routine life it also, serves to the local vendors selling their products and services around the cinema. For example cafeteria, gaming zone for children and a relaxing spa.
In conclusion, I believe theatres are no longer important as many movies are releasing at online platforms instead the cinema halls. And we could watch any time on repeat mode which is not possible incase of watching in theatres.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response attempts to discuss both views regarding theatres and cinemas in the digital age and gives a personal opinion. However, the position presented across the essay is inconsistent and contradictory. While the introduction mentions that theatres hold significance culturally and economically, and the fourth paragraph outlines the benefits of cinemas, the conclusion abruptly reverses this stance, stating that 'theatres are no longer important'. Furthermore, the arguments presented in support of the online view, such as saving money through subscriptions and avoiding crowds for privacy, are somewhat repetitive and under-developed. Although all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the lack of a clear, sustained position and underdeveloped support prevent the response from achieving a higher band score, placing it firmly at band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, and basic cohesive devices are used to signal progression, such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'Finally'. However, paragraphing is problematic in places; for example, the third sentence of the introduction is isolated as a single sentence instead of being integrated into the paragraph. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression is disrupted by the contradictory conclusion. While overall cohesion is sufficient to make the general flow understandable, the mechanical use of transition markers and weak paragraph structuring keep the score at a band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey basic ideas about entertainment platforms and cinema benefits. However, there are numerous spelling and word-formation errors throughout the text, such as 'beleive' for believe, 'importance' misspelled as 'impotance', 'covineinet' for convenient, 'subscribtion' for subscription, 'safe' for save, and 'cloth' for clothes. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'hectic life' and 'increasing work pressure', but the frequent spelling mistakes and minor collocation issues (e.g., 'socialize ourselfs', 'releasing at online platforms') restrict the lexical score to a band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating conditional and relative clauses such as 'the individuals, who are more concerned about their privacy may prefer...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in punctuation, missing prepositions, and faulty subject-verb agreement or tense usage, such as 'cinemas as still important' and 'The time spend to watch movie'. Punctuation is particularly intrusive, with missing spaces after commas and periods throughout the essay. Because these errors occur frequently and occasionally impede smooth reading, the grammar is evaluated at a band 5.0.
