Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's modern age many people argue that cinemas and theatres are not significant compared to before as they can watch all the content digitaly with just a click while on the other hand many people prefer watching it due to the economical and cultural importance . I believe that watching any entertainment live is more benificial as it can give you a personal enjoyment and far superior quality.

Several individuals now don't consider theatres or cinemas as useful as before due to the introduction of digital content . This is because many streaming platforms provide a platheora of content to watch for their entertainment some of which are free , as a result individuals don't feel the need to spend any money on any physical content. For example Youtube has several free content which can be accessible by the masses and even many theatre acts without spending any real money.

Despite this many of them actually prefer watching in theatres in the modern era, this is because of its economic and cultural significance. Many cultures still prefer watching live plays in cinemas and theatres because it creates a sence of emotion in the minds of the audiance and it also because of its historical background. I agree with this as watching something live can be much enjoyable and give you a mix of emotion which can't be changed with digital content

In Conclusion, we can say although many people prefer digital media in todays world due to the introduction of free resources online by many platforms and for saving cost, there is still a section of society witch belive that theatres and cinemas have far superior quality and enjoyment along with a mix of emotions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—the importance of digital streaming platforms versus the economic and cultural significance of physical theatres and cinemas—and clearly states the writer's own opinion. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat generalized and could be extended further with more specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the reference to YouTube is a bit superficial and could be expanded to explain how digital convenience directly impacts cinema box offices. Overall, the requirements of Task Achievement are met at a Band 6.0 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure consisting of an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Phrases like 'in today's modern age', 'while on the other hand', and 'Despite this many of them actually prefer' are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'many of them actually prefer' lacks a precise antecedent). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments, but transitional links between sentences could be smoother. This places the performance firmly at Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'economic and cultural significance', 'platheora' (spelled 'platheora' instead of 'plethora'), and 'historical background'. There are several spelling and word-choice errors, including 'digitaly', 'benificial', 'sence', 'audiance', 'witch', and 'belive'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they demonstrate a lack of precision that prevents the score from reaching Band 7.0. Therefore, a Band 6.0 is appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structure with relative clauses and subordinating conjunctions (e.g., 'This is because many streaming platforms provide...'). However, there are numerous grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including run-on sentences, missing commas, and spelling mistakes that affect individual words. For example, 'there is still a section of society witch belive' contains a relative pronoun error and a subject-verb agreement error. These errors persist, placing the grammar score at Band 5.5.
