Student answer (Band 6.0)
The repaid growth of digital technology has made it possible for people to access a vast amount of entertainment without leabing their homes. While some people believe that this development has theatres and cinemas unnecessary, other argue that these venues continue to have siginficant economic and culutral value, Althouhg online enterntainment is nore convenient, I believe that physical entertainment venues still have impotant role to play.
On the one hand, streaming services have reduces people's dependence on cinemas and theatres. The main reason is their convenices and afforadbility. People can warch films, televison programmes and other forms of entertainment from the comfort of their homes without having to travel or pay for individual tickets. This is particularly attractive to students and people with busy lifestyles, as they can choose what to watch and do so at any time. For example, a university student who lives far from a cinema may prefer to pay for monthly straming subscription rather than spend money on transportation and cinema tickets.
On the other hand, cinemas and theatrs continue to provide economic and culutral benefits that online platforms cannot completely replace. Form an economic prspctive, these venues create employment for people working in areas such as ticketing, food services, cleaning and techincal operations. They can also support nearby business because visitors may spend money at restaurants, cafes and shops. Furthermore, theatres have an important cultural function because they provide a setting for live performances and local producations. watching plau in frony of a live audience offers a different experience from viewing recorded content online and can help younger generations learn about their culutral hearitage.
In conclusion, online entertainment has made watching movies and other content more convenient, flexible and afforadable, which has reduced the need for people to visit cinemas and theatres frequently. Neverthless, physical venues continue to contribute to the economy and provide valuable social and culutral experiences. Therefore, I believe that they remain important despite the increasing popularity of digital extertainment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—that cinemas and theatres are obsolete due to online entertainment, and that they remain economically and culturally important. You also present a clear personal opinion right from the introduction ('I believe that physical entertainment venues still have impotant role to play') and maintain it throughout the essay. The main ideas in body paragraphs are well-extended and supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as the university student scenario and the specific economic contributions like employment and nearby business support. The task is fully covered, fulfilling the Band 7 criteria.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression and logical organization. It is structured into four distinct paragraphs with a logical flow: introduction, advantages of streaming, benefits of physical venues, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Furthermore', guiding the reader smoothly through your arguments. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different trains of thought. However, minor mechanical errors in linking or referencing prevent it from reaching higher bands, aligning it firmly with a Band 7 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow some flexibility and precision, using less common items such as 'affordability', 'conveniences', and 'economic and cultural benefits'. However, there are noticeable spelling and typographical errors throughout the text, such as 'repaid' instead of 'rapid', 'leabing', 'siginficant', 'culutral', 'enterntainment', 'nore', 'impotant', 'reduces' (instead of reduced), 'convenices', 'afforadbility', 'warch', 'televison', 'straming', 'theatrs', 'prspctive', 'techincal', 'producations', 'plau', 'frony', 'hearitage', 'afforadable', 'Neverthless', and 'extertainment'. Because these errors occur frequently and affect common words as well as academic terms, they occasionally strain the reader, pulling the lexical score down to a Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or relative clauses ('a university student who lives far from a cinema may prefer...'). There are frequent error-free sentences, but grammatical and punctuation errors persist. For instance, capitalization and article issues appear occasionally, and subject-verb agreement or preposition slips occur (e.g., 'other argue' instead of 'others argue', 'Althouhg' with a typo). Punctuation errors are also present, such as ending the introduction sentence with a comma instead of a full stop before the final sentence. These errors do not impede overall communication, placing your grammar score comfortably at a Band 6.
