Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is a controversial debate that cenima should exist or not. Many people think that there is no need of threatres and cinemas at this era. On the other hand some people argues that cinemas and threatres are still important. But in my opinion, cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. In the following i will give you reason to support my idea.
Firstly, some people including me argues that cinemas are still important. From my prespective, watching movies on threatres with your close friends provides more entertainment or pleasure in comparison to mobile phone. We should avoid the over use of mobile phone and try to involve in outdoor activities because over use of mobile can disturb your mental health. Watching movies with friends is also a source of enertainment. It can create long lasting memories.
Secondly, why people think there is no need of cinemas? As technology is increasing day by day and smart phone makes many things much more easy or convinent. We can do a lot of thing on mobile phone using internet. For example, we can watch any kind of movie in any place or at any time. People don't need to wait for a specific time to watch movie furthermore In this way, you can watch without paying for ticket. it is free and easy to watch. That's why, some people think that watching movie on mobile is better than cinema.
In conclusion, both these ideas are not bad. If we are alone or free, we can watch movies on internet. While watching movies in cinemas is also good way to spend time with friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views and providing a personal opinion, satisfying the core requirements of Task 2. The introduction clearly states the writer's stance, and the body paragraphs touch upon both sides of the argument regarding cinemas versus online streaming. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on why cinemas are important focuses primarily on watching movies with friends and avoiding mobile phone overuse, rather than deeply exploring broader economic or cultural impacts as suggested in the prompt. Similarly, the second body paragraph covers convenience and cost, but these points are relatively brief and under-developed. To achieve a higher band score, the writer needs to extend their arguments with more detailed explanations and concrete examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay has a recognisable overall structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and basic transitional markers such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are employed. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and abrupt shifts in focus. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal organization of sentences lacks smooth transitions. For example, the transition between discussing the personal benefits of cinemas and the arguments for online streaming feels disjointed. Additionally, referencing and substitution are occasionally faulty, such as 'both these ideas are not bad' in the conclusion, which does not accurately summarize the two contrasting views. Cohesive devices are used mechanically rather than flexibly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited and displays noticeable inadequacies. Throughout the essay, there are numerous spelling errors, such as 'cenima', 'threatres', 'prespective', 'enertainment', and 'convinent'. Word choice is frequently repetitive and basic, relying heavily on common terms like 'important', 'movies', and 'mobile phone'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary, inaccuracies in collocation and form prevent precise communication. For instance, phrases like 'try to involve in outdoor activities' and 'watching movies on threatres' demonstrate a lack of control over standard lexical patterns. To improve, the student must expand their vocabulary range and focus heavily on accurate spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside a few basic complex forms. Attempts at complex sentences frequently result in errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('cenima should exist or not', 'some people argues') and incorrect prepositions ('on mobile phone'). Punctuation and capitalization are also problematic, with lowercase letters starting sentences or proper pronouns ('In the following i will give you...'). Frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and impede the flow of the text. A stronger performance would feature a wider variety of error-free complex structures and better control over basic sentence mechanics.
