Student answer (Band 5.5)
Due to advancement of technology, entertainment play a crucial role in the individual's life. Some people believe that movies and cinemas are no longer relevant for people because they can use another forms and applications to watch movies, while others reckon that theatres are essential for commercial and culture purpose. This essay will discuss both viewpoints with suitable examples and my opinion in the subsiquent paragraphs.
To commence with, movies are important for economic and culture viewpoint. The first and foremost reason is it increases the gross domestic product of society. It generate a source of income for staff, employees, and other food courts, cafes, restaurants. It also provide more employment opportunities for masses. Secondly, it provides social experience to individuals. They can more experience about different cultures, lifestyle, languages, food and clothes. People have chance to learn about their different history of different countries and their ancestors. For example, in 1984 movie, it describes about the independence of India and parts of Punjab and Pakistan, which shows the great history of Punjab that broadens the knowledge of people.
However, people can watch all the entertainment whenever they want. Firstly, there are many applications and platforms such as Jiohotstar, Netflix, Amazon Prime where people can watch and enjoy a variety of movies, shows whenever they want. It is quite beneficial for people who are busy whole the day. So, they can watch movies according to the time. Therefore, it involves convenient and time flexibility. Moreover, it reduces transportation cost and no need to ready for going outside for movies. For instance, nowadays, people set up projector at home and enjoy with their families spending quality time with the family members.
In conclusion, I believe that both are important for individuals because watching movies in theatres experience new environment and generate a source of revenue for many people. It is cost-efficient, convenient and flexible if people enjoy at home.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on the relevance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age and providing a personal opinion in the conclusion. The position is clear throughout the essay. Ideas are generally relevant, but some points lack full extension and deep support. For instance, the economic benefits are listed briefly (gross domestic product, staff, food courts), but could be elaborated further with more robust examples. The example of the 1984 movie is somewhat disconnected from the broader discussion of physical theatres versus online streaming. Overall, the response meets the requirements for a Band 6.5 or a solid 6, covering all prompts with adequately developed ideas, though tending towards generalisations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'To commence with', 'Firstly', 'However', and 'In conclusion'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, for instance in the phrase 'both are important' in the conclusion, which requires the reader to look back to deduce what is being compared. While logical progression is generally maintained, the integration of sentences within paragraphs could be smoother to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'gross domestic product', 'employment opportunities', and 'cost-efficient'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'Due to advancement of technology' (missing an article), 'entertainment play a crucial role' (agreement error), 'another forms' (should be 'other forms'), and 'culture purpose' (should be 'cultural purposes'). Spelling is generally accurate, but lexical control is inconsistent. These errors do not impede overall communication, placing the response firmly at Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures. However, frequent grammatical errors persist, including missing articles ('Due to advancement', 'in individual's life'), pluralisation issues ('different history of different countries'), and prepositional or auxiliary verb errors ('no need to ready for going'). Furthermore, 'busy whole the day' is unnatural. While the complex sentences show ambition, they are often slightly flawed. The errors occasionally require the reader to re-read, but they rarely impede overall understanding. This performance corresponds well to the Band 6 descriptors.
