Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views—the digital convenience argument and the cultural-economic value argument—while also providing a clear personal opinion. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly in the body paragraphs where concepts like airspace and enjoyment are re-stated without deep extension. For instance, the mention of connecting with different people is introduced but not fully elaborated with strong specific examples. While the overall task requirements are met, the depth of idea extension aligns more closely with a Band 6.0 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The text demonstrates a basic level of organisation, and the overall progression can be followed. However, paragraphing and cohesive devices are severely lacking. The student fails to use proper capitalisation and punctuation to separate sentences and paragraphs effectively, resulting in run-on structures like in the phrase 'industriy cultraly it connect like minded people its been a leisure place'. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, with repetitive transitions such as 'for instance' and 'subsequently'. Paragraphing is minimal and poorly managed, which heavily disrupts the logical flow of the arguments and places this criterion firmly at Band 4.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text. Words like 'theaters', 'cineme', 'inportant', 'chnage', 'que', 'evething', 'cultraly', and 'entertanment' demonstrate persistent spelling issues. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary items such as 'digitalised', 'airspace', and 'perspective', inaccurate collocations and awkward phrasing—such as 'chnage of airspace'—impede clarity. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, but errors are frequent enough to restrict the score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is limited, consisting largely of simple sentences or poorly linked clauses that lack punctuation. There is a complete absence of capital letters at the beginning of sentences and proper nouns, and periods are frequently omitted between independent clauses, leading to fused sentences. While there are some attempts at complex structures using subordinators like 'because' and 'as', these are often grammatically faulty or incorrectly punctuated. Frequent structural errors and punctuation failures cause considerable difficulty for the reader, placing this performance at a Band 4.0.
