Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that cinemas are not important source of entertainment because online, evey kind of movies has available, while others argue that theatres are important because its provide an amazing experience to watch on a large screen and also economically. In my opinion, digital network provide access to any kind of movie but cinema contribute to economy and provide an amazing experience.

On the one hand, people in favour of online network say that theaters and cinemas are no longer important becacuse through internet we can watch every type of movies whenever we want. In addition, it saves time and also travel expense. It is also benefical for people who didnot like crowd and want peace.

On the other hand, some believe that cinemas and theatres are very important economically and culturally. because it provide job oppurtunities to many people like workers, cleaners and staff. It is also an amazing experience many people prefer cinema because they want to enjoy watching big screen, a laptop screen cannot match with the gaint screen and booming sounds of a real cinema. It also a fun experience with friends and family.

In conclusion, the digital age would provide access to the wide varity of movies through Netflix, Disney etc, also very convient save both time and money but in my views, cinema will always remain vital because they provide fun and also contribute to economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that cinemas are unimportant due to online streaming, and that they remain economically and culturally vital—while also providing a clear personal opinion. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitively expressed and under-developed, lacking deeper supporting examples. Furthermore, the response suffers from a length penalty because it falls short of the 250-word minimum, containing only 233 words as noted in the length check. Consequently, these limitations prevent the essay from achieving a higher band score despite covering the required prompt elements adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is generally coherent with a clear overall arrangement and identifiable paragraphs, including a proper introduction, body paragraphs addressing each side of the argument, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' are employed to signpost the structure. However, referencing and transitions are at times faulty or mechanical, and sentence connectivity can feel abrupt. Paragraphing is present and appropriate, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally falters due to grammatical and structural issues.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms related to the prompt such as 'digital age', 'entertainment', 'economically and culturally', and 'job opportunities'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'evey' instead of 'every', 'benefical' instead of 'beneficial', 'didnot' instead of 'did not', 'oppurtunities' instead of 'opportunities', 'gaint' instead of 'giant', 'varity' instead of 'variety', and 'convient' instead of 'convenient'. These errors demonstrate a limited range and occasional strain, though communication is generally maintained.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and comparative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('theatres and cinemas are important because its provide'), tense inconsistencies, and missing auxiliary verbs ('digital network provide access', 'It also a fun experience'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with run-on sentences and sentence boundary errors. While meaning is rarely fully obscured, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies restricts the score to a Band 5.5.
