Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response addresses the prompt partially, attempting to discuss both views on the importance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age and giving a brief personal opinion in the introduction. However, the essay is severely incomplete, cutting off abruptly in the second body paragraph due to not meeting the minimum word count of 250 words (the actual word count is 184 words). Consequently, the ideas are underdeveloped and the arguments lack proper support and extension. For instance, the second body paragraph introduces the issue of rising ticket prices but stops mid-sentence ('and now culturaly not v'). Because of the significant under-length and incomplete development, the task response is heavily constrained and merits a Band 4.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay displays some overall organization with attempts at standard paragraph structure, including an introduction and two body paragraphs. However, progression is hindered by the abrupt truncation of the text. Cohesive devices are attempted ('On the one hand', 'Moreover', 'For example'), but they are often mechanically used or inaccurate, such as 'individual argue with the view that dramtically increase in the cost'. Referencing and logical linking become strained and confusing as the text breaks off. Paragraphing is initiated but fails to develop properly due to the incomplete nature of the response. Overall, the structural coherence is significantly disrupted, aligning with the criteria for Band 4.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable word choice and spelling errors that strain the reader. Examples of weak or incorrect usage include 'monitor online' instead of 'watch online', 'modren technologies' (spelling error), 'upto dated', and 'dramtically increase'. The student attempts some less common phrasing, such as 'significant financial and societal value' in the introduction, but this is undermined by frequent lexical inaccuracies and awkward collocations throughout the rest of the text. The range is limited and minimally adequate for conveying basic ideas, resulting in a Band 4.0 for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences predominate, and attempts at complex forms are frequently faulty or incomplete, such as 'Others believe that cinemas and theatres are still retain significant financial and societal value.' There are persistent errors in tense usage, subject-verb agreement, articles, and word forms (e.g., 'few individual suggest', 'that can be look'). Punctuation and capitalization are also erratic (e.g., missing spaces after periods). Because errors are frequent and often distort meaning or halt comprehension—culminating in an incomplete final sentence—the grammar aligns closely with the Band 4.0 descriptors.
