Student answer (Band 5.0)

Technology plays a crucial role in the changes of humans life. It is believed that people watch entertainment on online than cinemas. Others argue that cinemas are more important for economic and culture. I shed some light on both views along with my opinion for which vindication would be elaborated in the upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with, there are numerous merits of watch entertainment in the theatres and cinemas. The first and foremost is, huge screen. To explain it, the screen of cinemas are very big and movies or webseries audio quality is good in cinemas rather than mobiles. Addtionally, cinema hall not only more dark but also seating area is so better. As an example, I go to cinemas to watch movies with my friends every weekends, because it is the good way of spend times with friends.

Moving further, there are some people are hiring for selling tickets of movies to audience and also needs of cleaners for cleaning the dusts and garbage in the theatre hall. Therefore, it creates job opportunities.

On the other hand, there are several merits of watch entertainment on online in mobiles. One of the prominent is, cheap. To explain it, individuals watch free movies or webseries on online platforms. Futhermore, humans watch their entertainment on any time and they also watch movies according their choice because there are many movies or serials are avaliable on the online platforms. Hence, it is the way of save time and money.

In conclusion, after taking all aspects in my consideration, I would like to emphasize that watch movies in the cinemas are very beneficial such as huge screen, darkness, good audio quality and jobs opportunities. But do not forget the benefits of online watching in mobile.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the decline of physical cinemas due to online platforms and their continuing economic and cultural importance, while also stating a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas remains limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on economic benefits is restricted to a simple mention that 'there are some people are hiring for selling tickets' and cleaners are needed. Similarly, the points regarding cinemas (huge screen, better audio, darkness) are somewhat superficial and lack extended analysis. The position is stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion, but the supporting arguments lack depth and rely on over-generalised personal habits, such as 'I go to cinemas to watch movies with my friends every weekends.' This places the performance firmly at Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, featuring an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is often hindered by awkward mechanical linking devices such as 'To commence with,' 'Moving further,' and 'On the other hand.' Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph three consists of only a single short sentence, which disrupts the logical flow and development of ideas. Referencing and substitution are also frequently faulty, as seen in phrases like 'On the other hand, there are several merits of watch entertainment on online in mobiles,' where the cohesive link fails to properly introduce a contrasting argument smoothly. Overall, the structural framework shows some organisation, but the poor management of cohesive devices and erratic paragraphing limit the score to Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms such as 'movies,' 'entertainment,' 'online,' and 'merits.' There are numerous instances of awkward word choice and unnatural collocations, such as 'changes of humans life,' 'watch entertainment on online,' 'audio quality is good in cinemas rather than mobiles,' and 'way of save time and money.' Furthermore, morphological and word-formation errors are common throughout the text, including 'Addtionally' (spelling), 'job opportunities' versus 'jobs opportunities,' and 'avaliable.' The lexical range is minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, but noticeable errors and the lack of sophisticated uncommon vocabulary restrict the score to Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and flawed complex structures. Frequent grammatical errors impede readability and distort meaning at times. Notable errors include subject-verb agreement issues like 'there are some people are hiring' and 'needs of cleaners,' incorrect prepositional usage such as 'watch entertainment on online in mobiles' and 'according their choice,' and infinitive/gerund errors like 'merits of watch entertainment' and 'good way of spend times.' Punctuation and sentence boundaries are occasionally problematic, resulting in run-on constructions or fragmented clauses. Because the attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty and errors occur with high frequency, the performance aligns with Band 4.5, rounded to Band 5 based on descriptor alignment.
