Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on the importance of theatres and cinemas in the digital age and providing an opinion. However, the development of ideas is heavily constrained by severe language limitations. The points regarding economic benefits (such as GDP and infrastructure) and cultural exchange are introduced but remain under-developed and difficult to follow due to poor expression and repetition. The writer states their position in the introduction and reiterates it in the conclusion, meeting the baseline requirements for this criterion. Nevertheless, because the reasoning lacks clarity and depth, it aligns best with the Band 5 descriptor where ideas are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at paragraphing. However, logical progression is severely disrupted throughout the text. Cohesive devices are either misused or absent, as seen in awkward transitions like 'On the other people argue' and 'There are severals imporant in watching the digital age'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it hard to follow the relationship between sentences and ideas. For instance, the transition into the cultural paragraph ('On the other hand. another crucial benifit is culturally. how to develop the culutre?') lacks appropriate linking and punctuation. These issues place the response firmly at Band 4, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and heavily repetitive, with constant misspellings and incorrect word forms ('severals', 'taht', 'digitall', 'seen' instead of 'see', 'argye', 'bothe', 'turisms', 'manys'). There are numerous collocation errors, such as 'income the money and investement the other movie' and 'economicall strongs in this field grow the GDP'. The range of vocabulary is extremely limited and inadequate for discussing academic topics effectively. Communication is significantly strained and impeded by these numerous lexical and orthographic errors, which corresponds directly to the Band 4 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are consistently faulty. There are persistent, fundamental errors in subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, word order, and punctuation (such as lowercase beginnings of sentences, stray full stops, and comma splices). Examples include 'severals people think', 'individuals can seen', 'if people watching the digitals age grow up the money', and 'more people was the cinemas'. Error-free sentences are exceedingly rare, and the density of grammatical mistakes frequently distorts the intended meaning, matching the criteria for Band 4.
