Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the decline of theatres due to online streaming and their ongoing economic and cultural importance, while also including a personal opinion. For instance, the writer acknowledges OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, but contrasts this with the cultural tradition of cinema-going and the emotional connection films offer in a theatre. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed or simplistic, such as the brief mention of economic benefits without detailed expansion. The position is clear throughout, and the main arguments are relevant to the task. These features align closely with the requirements of a Band 6.5 or Band 6, fulfilling all core aspects of Task Achievement with clear opinion and argument structure.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct viewpoints, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, though formatting can be improved (e.g., missing spaces after periods). Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'However' and 'Overall we can conclude', though some linking is occasionally mechanical or faulty, as seen in the phrase 'follwing the trends and cultures of the society and it does get vary from an individual's mindset'. Referencing is mostly clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally stumbles due to phrasing issues. These characteristics reflect the standard descriptors for Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'OTT platforms', 'entertainment', 'culturally', and 'economically terms'. There are several attempts to use less common vocabulary, though this is sometimes accompanied by word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'drawned' instead of 'drawn', 'benefical in economically terms' instead of 'economically beneficial', and 're-release some of favourites movies'. Spelling and word formation errors are noticeable (e.g., 'becauase', 'follwing'), but they do not impede communication. This performance fits comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional-like thoughts, such as 'While others argue that theatres and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally' and 'people prefer to watch movies on such platforms becauase it can give them level of comfort'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage throughout the essay, including 'Technology is getting changed a lot now a days', 'the people are more drawned', and 'their are some special movies'. Punctuation errors like missing spaces after full stops are also prevalent. Because these errors persist across multiple structures while rarely impeding overall communication, a Band 5.5 score is appropriate.
