Student answer (Band 5.5)

Due to the advancement of technology, everything is available now at a single click. One group of people argue that nowadays people do not like to go to theatres and cinemas to watch movies for entertainment. While other group says, theatres and cinemas play an important role both culturally and economically for the country.

Technology has changed the way people watch entertainment in this fast-paced world. They do not have time to go to cinemas to watch movies. They can watch movies and documantaries on their smartphones whenever they are free. For instance, nowadays people have diferent apps such as netflix to watch all kind of movies. They select the movie of their interest and watch it at their homes without going anywhere. In addition, Going to cinemas and theatres require proper time management as movies and plays start at fixed time and they need to spend money on traveeling also. These all things need to be scheduled before going. Therefore, people watch movies in their homes, offices and their work place whenever they have free time and its more convienent for them.

However, theatres and cinemas play crucial role for the country's economy. Due to the hectic routines people should spend some time with friends and family to release their stress. One of the best way is to go to cinemas to watch movies with friends. It does not only make people refreshing after busy days of work but also it is benefical for the country's economy. People learn about their culture and traditional histories through movies and plays.

In my opinion, people should spare sometimes for themselves and should go to cinemas ans theatres to watch movies as it has many positive effects. Going to watch movies can benefit state economically and people who forgetting their culture can rewind it through it.

In conclusion, people can watch movies at home when they have free time without going anywhere, neverthless they should also go to cineams and theatres to support their local artist and can learn about their cultural valuee.Going to cinemas can be bebfit for the country ecnomically also.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that theatres and cinemas are no longer important due to online streaming, and that they remain culturally and economically vital—while also providing a clear personal opinion. The student's position is maintained throughout the essay. Ideas are generally relevant and extended, such as mentioning convenience, streaming apps like Netflix, and economic benefits. However, some arguments lack deeper development and tend to over-generalise, such as the brief mentions of cultural preservation. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, fitting the criteria for Band 6.5 to 7.0, and is best placed at Band 6.0 due to some under-developed supporting points in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is coherent overall with a clear logical arrangement divided into an introduction, body paragraphs addressing different viewpoints, a personal opinion, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen with transitions like 'While other group says' and minor referencing issues. Cohesive devices are employed, but they are not always handled with complete flexibility or precision. Paragraph transitions could be smoother, and some sentences lack strong logical ties to the preceding statements. This performance aligns well with Band 6.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common terms such as 'advancement of technology', 'fast-paced world', and 'cultural value'. However, there are several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'documantaries', 'diferent', 'traveeling', 'convienent', 'benefical', 'refreshing' (instead of refreshed), 'sometimes' (instead of some time), and 'cineams'. These lexical errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the score to a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structures. Examples include 'Due to the advancement of technology, everything is available now at a single click' and 'Technology has changed the way people watch entertainment in this fast-paced world.' Nevertheless, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('theatres and cinemas play crucial role', 'Going to cinemas and theatres require'), missing articles ('play important role'), and awkward preposition usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main ideas, they occur frequently enough to prevent the essay from reaching Band 6.5.
