Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some people believes that in this modern time, theater and cinemas are no more important because people now can watch all the entertainment they have interest on social media. Other argue that theater and cinemas are still important both economically and culturally. This essay will discuss both views before my opinion.
Some individuals thinks that in this modern era, when the whole world is running through internet and social media platforms there is no need of cenemas and theaters. They point out that in this fast time everybody have internet and different social media platform access. They can easily watch traditional movies, cultural dance and shows on their own mobile phones,TV and laptops. Also the owner of chanels who upload videos on YouTube and Facebook can easily earn money. So according to them it has both cultural and ecnomical benefits. For example when people use tiktok, YouTube and other apps they must watch the stage drama ,dance and funny cideos on it.
Other natives strongly believes that no doubt the wolrd is moving very fast but there is still need of theaters and cinemas because it is only place where people can watch traditional and cultural dance, movies and stories with family. It aslo help financially to the owners and government also. Social media can not show the reall image and excitement as compared to reall scene.
From my prospective there is no need of cinemas and theater because it cause the waste of time and money also. As we all have mobile phones and other devices we can watch it from out own home. We don't have any need to travel and watch stage dramas and movies. These all facilities are bow available at home and it is also a way of earning for producers and actors. I think it is more beneficial then live watching. We can save our traditional and cultural musics, dance, movies and stories through online decices.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on whether cinemas and theatres are still important and presenting a clear personal opinion, although the stance shifts slightly between body paragraphs and the conclusion. Ideas are relevant, but some are under-developed and rely on generalisations rather than specific examples. For instance, the discussion on social media platforms mentions TikTok and YouTube but fails to deeply analyse the economic and cultural aspects specified in the prompt. Furthermore, the final paragraph contradicts the earlier acknowledgment of the second view by stating directly 'there is no need of cinemas and theater', which limits the overall depth of the argument. Overall, the performance aligns with Band 5.5 descriptors for Task Achievement, rounded to 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay has an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing a clear attempt at organisation. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by abrupt transitions and repetitive sentence patterns. Cohesive devices are used, but they tend to be basic and repetitive, such as 'Also', 'For example', and 'Other natives strongly believes'. Paragraphing is attempted, though the division of ideas could be more logical, particularly in how arguments are grouped. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen with pronouns like 'it' and 'they' referring back to ambiguous nouns. These mechanical cohesive errors place the response firmly at Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic points about entertainment and technology. However, the range is limited, and there is frequent repetition of words such as 'important', 'cultural', 'movies', and 'social media'. There are noticeable lexical and collocational errors throughout the text, such as 'cenemas' (spelling), 'fast time' instead of 'fast-paced era', 'channel chanels', 'reall image', and 'live watching'. These errors and the restricted vocabulary range prevent the response from achieving a higher band, reflecting the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some people believes', 'Other individuals thinks', 'everybody have') and pluralisation (e.g., 'theater and cinemas', 'other device'). Articles and prepositions are also misused frequently, such as 'from out own home' and 'cause the waste of time'. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate limited control over complex sentence structures, aligning with a Band 5.0 score.
