Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both views regarding the importance of theatres and cinemas versus online platforms, and provides the writer's own opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth. For instance, the economic and cultural points are mentioned superficially rather than thoroughly explored. The personal example regarding the relative watching inappropriate content on Netflix feels somewhat irrelevant to the main economic and cultural debate, which weakens the argumentation. Additionally, the conclusion briefly touches upon the prompt but remains brief. Overall, the task is addressed, placing the response solidly at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is divided into four paragraphs, which shows an attempt at basic organisation. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and disjointed sentences. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or used inappropriately, such as 'Morever' and 'Additionaly' with spelling errors, or awkward transitional phrases like 'To sumup i would say that'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of ideas. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs is poor. These features align closely with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent word choice and spelling errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'there priorities' instead of 'their priorities', 'difficults' instead of 'difficulties', 'Digital plateforms', and 'feasable'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'perceptions', 'economically', and 'cultural', but lacks the precision required for higher bands. The range is minimally adequate for the task, which corresponds to a Band 5.0 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to severe grammatical breakdowns. Examples include: 'With the arrival of technology that has really change human perceptions related to there priorities and make it difficults for us while selecting options.' Punctuation and capitalization are erratic throughout the text. Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Box offices that was an importants'), tense consistency, and word forms cause considerable difficulty for the reader. These characteristics match the Band 4.0 descriptor.
